A woman named Tova shared a video under the handle @tovamorgan on March 11, 2026, describing a similar experience. She was at a bakery buying donuts for her daughter’s birthday when she noticed a distressed man crying while looking at his phone. Though hesitant at first, she eventually approached him, and the interaction unexpectedly turned into a moment they ended up celebrating together.
Tova said the man was around 40, poorly dressed, looked rough, and probably hadn't changed in a week. "He was sobbing behind me, crying, looking at his phone," Tova said, confused about what could have caused his condition. She added that others were ignoring him, as avoiding the situation seemed easier. However, she felt the man “might need a hug,” believing he was going through something difficult. So, she asked him, “Hey, sir, are you okay?” and took his hand. But the man's response surprised her, as he told her he had just landed a job that would change his life, and these were tears of joy.
The creator described how seeing an adult stranger in such an emotional state moved her to hug him. “I gave him a hug, and he was so excited to have somebody to celebrate with,” said Tova. She connected with his emotions as she shared how a job had changed her own life. She then suggested that they celebrate together. She revealed his name as Jamal and credited him with changing her day. He brought her a coffee and a donut for $3, which made Tova feel “the richest person in the entire world” at that moment. It was a rare and heartfelt gesture, as Tova chose to check on Jamal, be there for him, and be part of his celebration.
What makes this entire sequence even more interesting is that Tova was already late and had to hurry. She had many reasons to ignore him, yet she chose to ask a stranger about his well-being, which changed her day and also gave Jamal a chance to celebrate with someone instead of being alone. Tova also reflected that true wealth isn’t about having billions, suggesting that even someone with just $3 can feel richer if they choose to share. “This is what it means to be wealthy,” she said. The video shared by her has been viewed over 77,000 times and has received around 13,000 likes.
