Wealthy man ran a ‘gold digger test’ on her by pretending to forget his wallet — she paid $85K and turned the tables with one line

Some people go on dates with the intention of meeting and getting to know the individuals. Unfortunately, in the bargain for tricks to understand better, the entire meeting is ruined. When X user Queeneth (@Queeneth01olx) was on an expensive date with a wealthy man she met on Instagram, she thought everything was going well. Until the $85k bill arrived and he pretended to forget his wallet, so that he could find out if she'd pass the "gold digger test." However, she paid the amount and gave him a befitting reply that left him embarrassed. Sharing the story with her X users on March 25, 2026, she revealed how his clever tactic to expose her gave him a reality check instead.

The woman recalled meeting the man on Instagram, and he appeared to have a rich lifestyle. When they were planning their date, he picked out an expensive lounge in Victoria Island. After their date ended, a bill of $85k arrived. Suddenly, he told her that he had forgotten his wallet and requested her to pay the bill, promising that he'd send it back later. "I didn't even flinch. I paid the 85k like it was nothing," the woman remarked. But once they got inside the car, he revealed that he was testing if she was a "provider woman" or just another "gold digger." It's fair that he wanted to know her true intentions, but his method was obnoxious. So, she responded with a smart statement. "A provider woman provides for a king, not a man who lies about his wallet to play games. Consider the 85k a tip for the performance," she said.

Queeneth felt manipulated and like she was being put on a guilt trip just to "accept the bare minimum." She immediately blocked the man and ended things there and then. According to relationship expert Christine Rafe, the growing rise in the gold digger test only sets up men to fail in finding worthy companions, according to The New York Post. "The rise of 'gold digger tests' reflects the growing gender divide and rhetoric on social media and 'alpha male podcasters' suggesting heterosexual women only want the 'top 10 percent' of socially, financially, and physically attractive men," she noted. When the man set her up and revealed that he was testing her, she knew she was better than being treated as a test subject. By paying the bill and not choosing to pursue him, she guarded her dignity and self-respect, leaving just enough room for only the man to regret.

Soon after her post went viral, many users shared their thoughts on it. @Dunni226245 wrote "Exactly! Real men don't test women with games; they show up with consistency. Respect for how you handled that .. queen energy all the way." @El_sa0000 commented, "The man just lost a gem because he was trying to play games. Some men shouldn't be dating until they are done growing up." @Sulaiman1Akanbi shared, "Never let a man test your standards with his lies. Guard your worth; build a life where manipulation can't even knock on the door."
