Mom feared her son was in trouble when a classmate’s mom emailed with his name as the subject — she cried when she read it
Sometimes the smallest moments reveal the biggest lessons about kindness. One mom felt a rush of fear when she opened her inbox and saw her son’s name in the subject line of an email from another parent. The message had come from the mother of one of her son’s classmates, both boys in seventh grade, and her mind immediately went to trouble or concern. The moment stayed with her long after, and she later decided to share it publicly. The story reached a wide audience after she posted a TikTok video on January 16, 2026, under the username @caldo.de.les, offering a reminder that parents do not always see the quiet impact their children have on others.
@caldo.de.les I’m also on my period so the tears are excessively flowing 😭 #bekind #middleschool #classmates ♬ original sound - Les 🍒
In the video, the mother spoke straight to the camera, with on-screen text reading, “getting an email from my son’s classmate’s mom.” She explained that the email came in that morning and immediately caught her attention. “The title was Isaac, that’s my son’s name, and I was like, ‘Oh God, what’s going on,’” she said. As she continued, her voice grew shaky. The message was from the mother of a boy in the same class, who shared that her son has special needs. She explained that since returning from Christmas break, Isaac had started talking to him regularly. “No one’s ever done that before,” the mom read from the email, pausing as she grew emotional while recalling the moment.
She went on to explain that the other mother described how Isaac asked her son simple questions, like what he enjoyed watching and what he liked to do in his free time. Even though the boy’s speech was hard to understand, Isaac picked up on one clear interest, Pokémon. Acting on instinct, Isaac drew a small Pokémon character for him on paper. “My son drew him a little Pikachu on a whim,” the mother said. According to the email, the boy carried the drawing everywhere afterward. The image became important to him, something he held onto daily. The message explained that he would often point to it and say a single word. “Friend,” she repeated, visibly holding back tears as she shared that part of the story.
“That was the entire email,” she said softly. The message ended with the other mother thanking her and saying she wanted her to know what a good human she was raising. “That did it for me,” she added, admitting she was close to crying again. She reminded viewers that she always tells her son, “If you can be one thing in this life, be nice.” The video quickly spread, gaining more than 619,000 views, with many praising her parenting in the comments. @fosterpup_tales wrote, "For a seventh-grade boy, this is actually amazing and a testament to your parenting." @journeygirl_86 mentioned, "You should be so proud! For a 7th-grade boy to be kind like this? That is a huge win. Good job momma." @susymartinez1348 expressed, "As a special needs mom, thank you for raising such a good kid."
