Sometimes, health concerns in young women are dismissed because of a lack of awareness or fear around medical care. A mother and daughter were having a heated discussion in a store’s feminine care aisle about the pain she felt in her intimate areas. The mom refused basic medical help and also warned her against seeing a gynecologist because she was apparently too young. A TikTok creator who goes by @ibeemakingstuff later shared the incident in a video posted on May 24, 2026. She explained that she overheard the argument and felt it was important to step in.

The conversation escalated when the daughter asked if she could go to the ER since she was in pain, but her mother firmly refused and said she didn't need to. The stranger was surprised and immediately stepped in, saying, "Yes, you do." The two turned to her in silence, and she calmly explained that even the smallest concerns should not be ignored. The kid asked if she could see a gynecologist instead. To this, the mom stated that she was too young. Without skipping a beat, the woman informed the girl that she could go to a medical professional no matter her age. This moment also showed how important it is for people to challenge harmful misconceptions about women’s health when they hear them.

The daughter looked confused and continued trying to explain her condition while the mother remained firm in her stance. As the discussion continued, she mentioned she thought it could be an ingrown hair, but the area was swollen and painful. The bystander gently asked her to describe it further if she was comfortable and explained that it could be something like a Bartholin’s cyst. According to Mayo Clinic, the latter is a painful swelling near the vaginal glands. The conversation slowly shifted as the girl felt more understood and supported in speaking about her symptoms. In the end, the mother finally agreed to take her daughter to the ER for proper care.

Sadly, many things around vaginal health or menstruation are still considered taboo to discuss openly, but one mother made sure not to follow the same pattern. In a store, a young child kept asking her mom about her period, making things uncomfortable for the parent. She said loudly, “I don’t want a period when I’m older. It's too much blood,” which drew more attention. The woman quietly tried to guide her, explaining that such topics should be discussed more privately. But the girl's simple question, “Why?” made her pause and rethink her response. In that moment, she realized that honesty matters more than embarrassment. She finally chose to explain to her daughter that menstruation is a normal part of life and nothing to feel ashamed about.
