A baby shower is held when a woman is pregnant so she can get a glimpse of the blessings and support that await her and her baby-to-be. Having women come together to celebrate motherhood and the journey of pregnancy itself is an experience that many dream of treasuring. A woman posted from her father-in-law’s account, u/godloki, about a disheartening reality for her friend, Bailey, at her baby shower. When the woman realized no one was going to turn up for the event, she was upset. However, she put her "best friend" socks on and shared a request on Reddit, and people came through in the most supportive and memorable way.

“My best friend of more than 10 years is pregnant with a baby girl, and her baby shower is this weekend. I just found out that no one is planning on coming except for me,” the woman explained. She added that no one RSVP’d for the party, and the mom-to-be was naturally upset. The post also mentioned a Walmart registry with baby items ranging from a few cents to $27. The friend also requested the Reddit community to help. “I know a few random acts of kindness would really make her day,” she said. The father-in-law and his wife also decided to get hands-on in the attempt to make Bailey’s baby shower a memorable one. They contributed an amount and decided to share updates and be present for the evening, too.

Within no time, people came through and decided to surprise the mom-to-be with everything she might need. u/seonadancing1 said, “She'll be getting some items from me. Tell her she has lots of friends here and best wishes to her and her new baby girl.” u/CuriousGidge added, “No one should have a lonely baby shower! I'm excited to help you show her that people care.” Right enough, strangers stepped up and helped make purchases to deliver at the friend’s doorstep so she could surprise Bailey at the party. The post mentioned that the family created an Amazon wishlist of the items the woman might need and people generously made purchases on their behalf.

In a follow-up post, the man revealed the power kindness can have. The post consisted of images of Amazon packages piling up at the friend’s house for Bailey. These were sent from strangers with best wishes for the mom-to-be. “You are why this community rocks! Amazingly generous people, making a difference in people's lives!” the post read. The family received around 15 items before the baby shower itself and showed up with the same to surprise the woman. Bailey was overjoyed to have the family's support along with greetings and love from thousands of strangers.

Over time, the man mentioned that they had to take “cars” loaded with gifts sent by the community from their home to Bailey’s. The pictures captured the mom-to-be proudly showing off her belly bump with the table full of baby items as she awaits her daughter’s arrival. “We're planning on making weekend appearances at her house as long as stuff keeps coming. The coolest thing is that everything won't be here right away, so it's going to be a few week's worth of trips to see her and give her new goodies! You've all made what would have been a sad day, one that she'll be talking about for the rest of her life,” the father-in-law remarked.
