Mom was confused when she saw her son’s shirt had been changed at school — then teacher’s note explaining a ‘strange accident’ had her in stitches
Kids can be messy little explorers, often so focused on fun and curiosity that their clothes are the last thing on their minds. Threads user and mom, Megan (@megankay19), was picking up her son Nathan from school when she noticed he wasn’t wearing the same shirt he had worn that morning. Later, a note from his teacher, Miss Cathie, answered her questions, leaving the mother in stitches. Sharing the funny note on Threads on February 12, 2026, she revealed the "correction" made by the teacher that left her chuckling.
When Megan asked her son about his different shirt, he told her that his teacher had asked him to change it. However, his teacher's note, which was found in his bag, told a different story. In the note titled, "Oops! Accidents Happen!" his teacher, Miss Cathie, had struck through the word "Accidents" and replaced it with "Strange Incidents." The teacher revealed that the little boy was lying across the toilet floor to listen to the echo. The note also asked the parent to replace the shirt in a labeled Ziploc bag the following day. The mother, who was baffled and stunned by the note, couldn't stop laughing while reading it.
Soon after the mother posted the image, which garnered over 500,000 views, internet users reacted to the hilarious note. @julie_binmore shared, "Parents wrote funny notes too. One day, one of my students came in with a note pinned to his jacket saying TRAGILE. His mum explained it’s a mixture of tragic and fragile. I treated him accordingly."
@donelle_underwood wrote, "My son was definitely not one to get in trouble at school, so when the principal called one day, I was immediately nervous. He got a detention for trying to army crawl into the bathroom without turning on the automatic light." @uteriuterme commented, "I don't know Nathan, but I'm pretty sure I would love him. He seems like my kind of kid. Curious, thinks outside of the box/toilet…embrace that energy."
Parents often come across funny notes from kids and teachers. Take this dad, for instance. When Jordan was going through his 7-year-old daughter's math homework, he came across a note she had written below one of the questions. The little girl who was fond of doing addition in math, dreaded when it came to the concept of subtraction. During one of the assignments, the kid had a hilarious note for the teacher. She wrote, "I never get an addition problam rong, but I suck at substrakshin!" The dad who read her note burst into laughter and described his daughter as "little Shakespeare."
