Mom was touched when her young son asked to keep her ashes after her death — but nothing prepared her for her daughter’s unexpected request
There’s a special kind of honesty in children. They speak their thoughts freely, without the careful editing adults use. Instagram user and mother of two, Rosechelle Yoder (@chelleglows), was touched when her younger son requested to keep her ashes after her death. But her daughter asked for something that left her stunned. Sharing the hilarious video with her Instagram followers on Sunday, March 8, 2026, Yoder revealed her daughter's unusual request was not what she expected.
Young mother and Instagram user Rosechelle Yoder was driving her kids around in her car when her son made a peculiar request. Her younger son, Cash, asked if he could keep her ashes when she passes away. His question touched her, and she immediately agreed. However, her daughter, Olivia, who was listening to their conversation, immediately chimed in to ask for something that left her in stitches. In an unapologetic tone, she asked if she could keep her mother's makeup when she died. Yoder, who was taken aback by her response, could not hold her laughter.
The young mother shared the funny post online and wrote, "Almost had a deep moment… then this happened." Kids often say the most outrageous things with absolute confidence, completely unfiltered. Their words can be shocking, hilarious, or even surprisingly insightful, because they speak without thinking about how it will sound to adults. Such bold responses usually reflect the environment they grow up in, where their thoughts are heard, their feelings validated, and honesty is encouraged. Most children who are brutally honest learn that it’s okay to share their minds openly, and this habit helps them embrace honesty as a value and develop confidence in expressing themselves.
Soon after Yoder's post went viral, many users shared their reactions in the comments section. @adoseofmyramblings joked, "She keeps you grounded! How lucky are you to have a daughter like that?" @aravindvinodp mentioned, "So one thing from their speech is clear... Everybody except you in that vehicle is waiting for an end." @renub74 remarked, "Hey, at least she said makeup and not all your jewelry and assets."
Kids speak freely, but their words can sometimes backfire in ways adults never anticipate. In another story, a father named William Elston asked his daughter not to use curse words inside their house when he heard his little daughter using an offensive word. But his daughter did not care and instead corrected him by implying why his rule did not apply. She told him that since they lived in an apartment and not in a house, the rule did not make sense. Needless to say, the dad was flabbergasted by the little girl's response.
