Children can learn only so much through verbal teaching. Telling them what is right and wrong and what morals they need to imbibe within themselves may not make much sense to their innocent minds. However, what children see, they learn. They understand by practicing and putting into action what they observe to make it a habit. As parents or guardians, it is crucial that we put into action all that we want our kids to learn and live up to. A mom named Nikkole Ledda shared a post revealing that she has trained her 6-year-old son to take her out on a date regularly. Though an unusual gesture, the mom had a poignant reason behind the same.

Ledda revealed that her son takes her out on dates once a month without fail. On these dates, she teaches him how he should behave and how his simplest actions matter. “He opens doors for me, pulls out my chair, talks about his day and asks me how mine was,” the mom noted. She added that she ensures her son pays the bill and offers a tip with money he earns through simple chores. “By doing this, I am teaching him how to treat a lady and how to take her on a proper date,” Ledda said. She continued, “I am teaching how to show that he respects the woman he loves (right now, that would be mommy).”

She had also put simple rules or guidelines to help her toddler through this date. One of them included putting away phones and other devices and having a genuine conversation. “I'm teaching him proper table manners and that it's rude to sit on your phone on a date with your mom or with anyone else. He learns the value of money and how to manage it. He learns how to do math as we add up what we want and make sure we have 15% of it to leave for a tip,” Ledda explained. The mom acknowledged that he is young but pointed out that he must start learning early. “It's never too early to teach your child how to respect others, especially women, properly.”

Ledda revealed that she had a disheartening reason why she came to this theory. “As a woman who has been abused and treated like crap in the past, it's extremely important to me that I teach my son how to show respect,” she noted. The mom explained that she knew what it felt like to be ill-treated and disrespected and wanted to do everything she could to keep her son from becoming ruthless. “Too many men these days have no idea how to treat women or how to take them on a nice date. It's nice to know my son won't be one of them,” Ledda concluded. The mom also shared a heartwarming picture of her toddler seated, engrossed in his Marvel-themed wallet, trying to figure out the payment for the date. The mom was sure to sow the roots of respect in her toddler and eventually build up on it. Thanks to her, the young man will be a bright example to lead other men.
