While interacting with children, physical gestures can be a sign of comforting the kids or simply an expression of showcasing care and affection. However, just like adults, children also deserve physical boundaries. Mom and Reddit user (u/Sea-Trick-6003) dropped her toddler at a church daycare, since she trusted the teacher who works there. However, she noticed the pastor from the church take the baby inside to help the teacher. Before he could set her down, he casually kissed their daughter on her cheek. When she raised objections, the director's response left online users fuming. Sharing the experience on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, the woman revealed her dismay at hearing the director's reply.

The mom noted that since she trusted the teacher, she had no issues sending her child to the church daycare. As she dropped her toddler off one morning, she noticed the church pastor insisting on helping them. However, before he put the baby down, he kissed her on her cheeks. While the mother was confused about the incident, she couldn't stop thinking about it. She immediately rang her husband, who later picked up the baby and informed the teacher what she had seen. The dad immediately informed the director that he didn't want the pastor kissing her on the face. To the parents' surprise, the teacher revealed that he frequently visited the daycare and kissed all the babies.

"Is that not outrageous, and why is the director allowing him to do that just because it’s a church daycare and he's the pastor?" the mother wrote. As it turned out, the director is married to the pastor, as mentioned by the parent in a comment. According to a study published in Sage Journals, children often fail to receive bodily autonomy since the common justification for treating them differently is that they are relatively younger to form an understanding of protecting their bodies. However, the study argues that downplaying the role of bodily autonomy does not protect children's interests. "Children's autonomy 'includes their self-determination, bodily integrity, and right to influence outcomes' and suggests that their autonomy, so conceived, should be 'promoted as a priority among children's best interests,'" the study noted.

The Reddit user's post enraged many online users, who criticized the church's daycare authorities for allowing the pastor to interact with children without the parents' consent. u/GoAhead_BakeACake commented, "Kissing strangers' babies without the parents consent is crossing boundaries. Are other parents leaving?" u/DonaldDuck898 wrote, "Red flag right there. Why does he need to 'help?' He has no reason to be in the classroom. And to top it off with a kiss? Listen to your gut." u/Glad-Confection-8855 remarked, "I’m glad to see you have pulled her and let other parents know."
