Pets are known to have attachment and love for their owners. What many don't realize is the depth of the love they carry. It pushes them to exercise a passionate and fierce loyalty toward pet parents, even if it means risking their own lives. According to What Is Green Living, animals might have distinct features or capacities but they use each of these intelligently to detect danger or protect their pet parents.

The International Fund for Animal Welfare states that animals do possess a sixth sense of a sort. This has come from years of evolution and adaptation. Pets ingeniously use these tactics to help notify their humans and even save their lives. A user, u/gerryhanes, asked Redditors to recall a time when their pets saved their lives using this sixth sense. With over 1,600 responses, there are intriguing and jaw-dropping instances where furry pals have detected danger, notified their humans and even helped them escape just in time. These seven examples highlight the unconditional love pets have.

1. A chaotic but life-saving push to leave

"When I was a teenager, we had two golden retrievers, Zack and Jazzie. One lazy fall afternoon, I was sitting in my backyard with my mom on my swingset when Zack started to get very emphatic about going for a walk, or at least leaving the backyard quickly. We ignored them and continued to chat for a while, but he got more and more agitated. Eventually, we figured we'd walk down the block with the dogs. We were about 50 yards away from my house when we heard a massive crack and a huge boom. Turns out, one of the large trees in our backyard had died and a giant branch had snapped and fallen. The branch completely destroyed the swingset. It would have crushed us if we hadn't gotten up. Always thought he must have known something was amiss because it was pretty out of character the way he was acting." -u/kaetheriel

2. A pull back to life from a furry stranger

"This happened to my seven-year-old cousin. We were in India on a top part of the highway and there was a part of a mountain on the side with a lot of monkeys. They kept on trying to get our food and stuff (we were parked on the side to take a snack break). All of a sudden, my cousin was looking down at the highway below and started to tip over the railing and was about to fall. One of the monkeys grabbed his shirt and pulled him back, saving his life. Yes, we gave the monkeys some food." -u/Taffarr

3. Sunny to the rescue

"My horse, Sunny. We lived in a rural area in Canada. My parents weren't too strict, so I was allowed to go out into the pasture on my own from age 6 and up. One day, while mindlessly walking my horse around, he started acting up, which was very odd for him. I paid no attention and kept leading him. Suddenly, he knocked me over with his big head and took off into the bush. When he emerged from the bush, he was chasing a pack of mangy-looking coyotes. At least five of them, who looked hungry enough to take me, at the time a small child, down. I watched him chase them away for a long time, then he deemed it was enough and came trotting back to me." -u/FearlessEyes

4.  'Nuts' to save a life

"Not me, but my grandmother. Grandma puts her pup in a crate to sleep at night. One night, the dog wasn't settling down and Grandma got irritated and woke up to take the dog outside. The dog refused to go out. Grandma assumed the dog was just nuts and started heading back to bed. She started feeling really weird, so she sat down and called 911. Turns out she had a heart attack. If the dog hadn't gotten her up, she'd have just fallen asleep and died in bed." -u/thatnonefineday

5. Your life over mine

"When I was about eight or so, I came downstairs to a living room flooded with carbon monoxide because of a boiler malfunction. After about 10 minutes sitting there, watching cartoons, I went unconscious and would've died if not for my cat, Bart. My mum came down and saw Bart lying in a very peculiar place on the carpet and shouted to me, asking what was wrong with him. After a couple of shouts and no replies, she came over to where I was lying and saw me seemingly asleep and foaming at the mouth. She immediately dragged me out of the house and called an ambulance. My life was saved. Bart wasn't as lucky. I'm alive because he died; if he wasn't there, my mum wouldn't have seen me and gotten me out of the house and I wouldn't be typing this reply right now. I still get a bit worked up whenever I think about it. He saved my life." -u/FLoppy_McLongsocks

6. Just in time

"When I was in my early teens, I used to keep mirror carp. They are cold-water fish commonly caught by people into fishing. I was awoken one night by a big splash, a thud and something flopping on my bedroom floor. As I turned my bedside light on, I saw the fish flopping on the floor and thick, dark smoke billowing under my bedroom door. Coughing, I called out to my mum repeatedly, but got no reply. The smoke was getting thicker and flames were lapping under the door. I opened my window and saw a fire truck pulling up. The firemen immediately started sending a ladder up to me. If it wasn't for my fish jumping out of the water, the firemen might not have gotten to me in time. Unfortunately, I lost the fish, my older sister, mum, dad and my beloved golden retriever, Benji. I will never forget Carpface and the sacrifice he made to save me." -u/mark90909

7. A true hero

"My step-grandma was in her mid-80s. In her old age, getting around in the ice and snow was straight-up dangerous. She didn't have any close neighbors. We were all worried about her taking a fall due to the ice. One day it happened. She fell on the stairs on her front porch. She screamed and yelled, but nobody could hear her. Her giant pit bull, Sapphire, I mean one of those miniature horse-sized, blockhead pit bulls, bit down on her jacket and dragged her into the house. She dragged her close enough to the phone so she was able to pull it down by the cord and dial 911. She would have frozen to death without that dog. The dog is still around. I'm not sure which family member has her, but Sapphire is forever a part of our whole family." u/kittymcmeowmeow
