Pregnancy requires extra care and awareness, especially in the last month, when even minor symptoms should not be ignored. According to a USA Today report on March 13, 2026, pregnant hairstylist Megan Slater was applying foil to a client's hair when an unexpected event occurred. Her water broke, which was the first sign of labor. People might expect her to rush straight to the hospital, leaving everything behind. However, the hairstylist’s decision in that moment left everyone in the salon both shocked and amazed.

Slater was two weeks away from giving birth, so it was quite a surprise when her water broke, and it wasn't expected to happen so soon. The salon's social media manager, Halle Klinge, was filming the entire appointment and spotted the first signs of labor while Slater was foiling a client's hair. “Megan, your water might have just broke… You're wet,” Klinge, clearly shocked, can be heard saying in the video. The client in Slater’s chair added, “I felt you shaking.” As everyone stood stunned, the Texas hairstylist calmly responded, “Okay, we’re going to finish your foil, I’m almost done.”

Everyone laughed, including her, as she fanned herself with her hands, then quickly refocused on finishing her client’s foil. “When we realized her water had actually broken, we were honestly shocked and laughing at the same time,” the social media manager said later. Slater's decision to complete her client's appointment, despite a situation that likely required immediate attention, may not have been the wisest, but it certainly showed her dedication to her work and highlighted the commitment of working mothers.

Slater, who understood the gravity of the moment, also made a witty comment while she was doing the customer's hair. "I don't think I'm emotionally prepared to push a human out right now,” she said, and shared that she had even glammed up that day, unaware of what would unfold later. Even while managing everything and processing the moment, she urged her client to leave a review on how the appointment went. She planned to tell her husband about the signs only after the foiling was over. The customer was then taken in by another artist for a gloss and blowout, as the hair salon confirmed on its social media while responding to a user's question.

Slater also posted a photo of her baby boy on her Instagram, captioned, “Valentine's Day was extra special this year.
