School ignored parents’ pleas over teacher targeting their daughter — so the girl copied her handwriting to get her fired
A teacher's bias or dislike for a student can make school feel like a losing battle, especially when no one seems willing to believe the student’s side of the story. For one Reddit user’s grandmother, the case was similar. Sharing under their account, u/Same-Objective6052, they mentioned that their grandmother was in grade school in 1977 and found herself repeatedly singled out by her art teacher. What started with unfair grades and punishments eventually became much more personal. But the then-youngster eventually noticed one small detail that gave her an idea for revenge.
The teacher would downgrade the student over the smallest mistakes and even send her to detention for what she considered “disturbing artwork,” despite her classmates seeing her as a skilled artist. Things got worse during a parent-teacher conference, when the educator insulted the girl behind her parents' backs. That was when she decided she had had enough. After noticing the woman's handwriting on a note, she copied it and wrote a series of insults, signing the professor's name on each one. She then secretly left them on her colleagues’ desks. The next day, she overheard the superintendent confronting the teacher about the offensive messages. Even after denying them, she was ultimately fired.
The student's father had previously tried to report the misbehavior of the staff member. He went to the school and demanded that the teacher be removed and his daughter’s grades be restored, but the management said there wasn't enough evidence to take action. When this disrespect continued, the girl decided to take petty revenge with her own strategy, and it actually worked. The woman knew who the culprit could be, but ironically, she, too, had no proof. As the story put it, how could such an “innocent girl” have pulled off something like that? Grandma never had to admit a thing.
Being ignored and dismissed by the very person who is supposed to protect you can make a bad situation even worse. In another similar story, a Reddit user recalled being bullied by a classmate in fourth grade while his math professor repeatedly sided with the bully. The teacher called him “the devil” whenever he stood up for himself, but after one particularly bad confrontation, the student decided he was done playing by the rules. He used the educator's school email address to sign her up for several online psychic, tarot-reading, and other services, which flooded her inbox. He also purposefully gave his bully wrong answers on tests when they were forced to work together. Like Katie, this teacher also had to experience her own behavior backfire on her.
