She accidentally found her late brother’s journal and was shattered reading the whole section about her

The bond siblings share is like no other. One can never fully understand how the same duo that was pulling each other’s hair is the one encouraging and building each other as the strongest pillars. A sibling’s love is often the one through every phase of life, standing on the sidelines and assuring its presence. A woman who goes by @buttanyc on X, formerly known as Twitter, learned of this love her late older brother had at the time she was born. The woman found his journal where the then-young boy penned notes to and about his sister, straight from his heart. His words perfectly describe the eagerness and love he was impatient to share with his baby sister. 

The woman’s brother passed away at the young age of eleven. She was only a year old when he passed. Nevertheless, the little boy had a whole section in his diary dedicated to his sister. “I found his old English notebook while cleaning my closet today and decided to read it out of curiosity! He had a whole section in his journal dedicated to me and how excited he was to be a big brother,” she wrote in her post. Sharing in a thread, the woman revealed a picture of her brother. She added, “My brother was filled with love and was loved by so many. He lived a wonderful life.” She also added that his journal was one of the most delightful finds she’d made as it had detailed writings of how he loved, thought and so much more.

“His nickname was Butta and that is the nickname I go by now. I grew up to be just like him,” she highlighted. Sharing a picture of an entry from the time she was born in a thread, the woman couldn’t contain her tears and joy on realizing the love she received from her brother. Dating back to ‘98, the entry was titled,  “My baby sister.” It read, “My baby sister was born on ____. She is 5 days old and very little.” The young man further added all the hopes he had of being together with his sister, who was only an infant at the time. “My sister is going to grow up and be in the same school as me. What is my little sister going to be? We’ll find out when she starts talking.” 

The sister was only 5 days old and the boy was around 10 years old. He still had so much care and unconditional love just at the sight of his baby sister. Clearly, he couldn’t wait to fulfill his brother's duties and be a best friend to her. The entry concluded with “I love my mom and baby sister. I hope my baby sister grows up to be just like me.” A flood of emotions may have crossed the sister’s mind, reading the journal years later, knowing her late brother had nothing but love overflowing for her. 

Several people shared in her joy and pain, acknowledging the boy’s gentle and pure love. @lemuriaempr3ss exclaimed, “He wrote that for you to make sure you know you are loved. You have a powerful guardian angel watching over you .” @lynnexxa wrote, “Heartbreaking. But, knowing this is bound to cement the eternal bond between you.” @artbyteetee added, “May this new memory of his continue to live in you.”
