She brushed off her Tinder match’s unusual obsession with wolves — until she went into his room for a sweatshirt on their third date
Dating apps can give people a glimpse into someone's personality, but they rarely reveal every little interest or quirk. One TikTok user who goes by @applefrittr11 shared a similar experience in a post on July 12, 2026. She said her Tinder match, Nick, seemed perfect at first, until she discovered his growing obsession with wolves. Then, on their third date at his home, she saw just how far it went.
The woman enjoyed the first two dates and had gotten to know a lot about the man. He casually mentioned he was in love with wolves, and that he had even petted a wolf in a wildlife preserve. One detail that seemed off at that time was that he said he felt like he was “one of them.” She brushed it off and focused on the many things they had in common. During their third date at his home, she got cold while watching a movie, so he sent her to grab a sweatshirt from his room. When she walked in, she found the entire space covered in wolf-themed décor: figurines, cartoon drawings, and, finally, a wolf head.
In an update, she mentioned that she assumed the wolf head was there as part of a Halloween decoration because it was around that time of year. She chose to ignore those details even then. One Friday, she had to cancel their weekend date because she had to attend her friend’s birthday, and Nick showed his true colors. He became enraged and bombarded her with 10 to 15 calls and around 100 messages, leaving her certain she wanted no further contact.
Two years later, the woman found a social media post of Nick at a furry convention. That was when she realized that he wasn’t just a random wolf lover, but was actually a furry. According to Fursicence, a furry is someone who associates themselves with an animal or character within a certain community. Almost like a fandom, they believe they can function just like the creature. Over 75% of furries are people under 25.
The discovery even explained the cartoon drawings of wolves doing human things in his room. Commenters were more disappointed about his nonstop calling and texting, especially because she chose to go to a birthday party. That one act was enough to reveal what kind of person he was. @sonia_danielle_ said, “That is psychotic.” @angemantagne added, “The tantrum and texts are red flags.” @michafly96 remarked, “This sounds like a mini episode of American Horror Story.”
