Many people complain about being catfished while using dating apps. But sometimes, the reasoning can truly leave a person speechless. TikTok user Anna Manocha recently shared one such experience involving a man she met online. Though the date went well, he later texted her saying she didn't look like what he expected. Sharing on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, through the account @anna.manocha, she mentioned that she did ask what he meant, but his explanation left her confused and disappointed.

Anna expressed how the man's comment about her not looking like her pictures left her puzzled because she felt her appearance was largely the same as the photos on her profile. She explained that she does not wear a lot of makeup and could not immediately think of any major difference. When she asked him to clarify, he focused on one specific thing: her hair. He told her, “I expected your hair to be straight,” because one of her pictures showed that hairstyle. The woman revealed that her curls were natural and that she had straightened them at the time. Instead of accepting the response, the man noted, “Oh, that is kind of fake, no?”

The remark left her frustrated. The exchange made very little sense to her because changing a hairstyle for a photo did not seem misleading. While recounting the incident, she became visibly annoyed. The more she thought about the conversation, the more unreasonable she found the criticism. She said she often struggles to believe claims that people are constantly being "catfished" on dating apps because, in her view, some situations simply require a bit of common sense. In the onscreen text of her video, she jokingly referred to the date as her last one “before deleting all the apps.”

Modern dating is not always easy, and another woman faced an unexpected situation while trying to find a connection. She shared how a promising start with someone she met online quickly changed after a surprising text. She explained that they had spoken for around two weeks, including video calls, before meeting. Their first in-person interaction went perfectly, and she felt they had built a good rapport. She described him as someone she enjoyed spending time with, saying, “He is lovely, we get on very well.” After the date, she waited for him to reach out, hoping they could meet again. However, his next message caught her off guard. He asked if she was “comfortable sending feet pics.” She later expressed her frustration by adding, “This is why I don’t date.”
