A man in Melbourne found himself locked out after a faulty sliding door turned him into a viral sensation. As per Newsweek, for the couple, Amy and Liam, it was like any other day, and both were into the rhythm of routines until the door clicked. What happened afterward made Amy post the clip on TikTok on Friday, November 21, 2025.

Amy had already left for work when her boyfriend, Liam, stepped out into the backyard for a few minutes. The sliding door behind him, something they already knew could be a little temperamental, had other plans. Admitting the door was faulty, Amy explained, “If you close the sliding door too hard, the handle can drop and lock itself.” This time, Liam barely touched it. But even that nudge was enough to shut him out.

“He suddenly realized he had no phone, no keys, and he was meant to be leaving for work, so he absolutely panicked,” Amy said. Anyone who has ever walked outside for “just a second” without their essentials knows that sinking feeling. Stuck in the backyard, Liam did the only thing he could think of: turn to the door camera and hope Amy would somehow see him. He waved, talked to it, and tried to trigger notifications. But Amy was at work and completely unaware. Liam’s panicked reaction, moving here and there, saying Amy’s name like crazy, turned an everyday mishap into an unintentional comedy reel. Image Source: TikTok | u/Nikita

And apparently, the internet is laughing too. The clip of this mishap posted by Amy has garnered more than 6.8 million views and over 745,000 likes, with viewers having a field day in the comments. Seeing Liam running all around outside the house, @lizfiz22 joked, “Where did he run to? Work?” @acaciajarosz advised Amy, “If he ever says he doesn't need you, show him this video.” “Why does he want to be at work so bad?” remarked @samilou13.

Amy herself didn’t see any of this happening in real time. She only discovered it later in the day, and according to her, she was “crying laughing” the entire time she watched it. What made it funnier was that Liam truly believed the door cam might be his knight in shining armor. Amy jokes in the caption of the post that she’s not sure what he expected her to do; maybe just “a wave back.” Thankfully, the crisis ended without a locksmith or broken window. The door hadn’t fully locked, so after a few taps on the glass, Liam managed to shift the handle back into place, get inside, and remarkably, still make it to work on time.

What’s even more amusing is that this wasn’t a one-off situation. “This has actually happened before,” Amy admitted. The first time, when she received multiple Ring notifications, she talked to him through the app. Now, Liam "double-checks everything" before stepping out, and Amy keeps an eye on the door cam more often. The couple is stunned by the response to the video, but they’re enjoying every bit of it. After all, it’s not every day that a 15-minute inconvenience becomes viral content.
