19-year-old was baffled by neighbor's ‘child’s noise’ complaint. When she realized the truth — she couldn't stop laughing
Sometimes, life throws inexplicable experiences at us and we get the privilege to decide how to take them. When such experiences come our way, it’s only fair to make them something memorable. Then 19-year-old Sofia Elizabeth (@sofiaspamssometimes) shared one such instance that left her laughing her lungs out. The young woman was home alone when she received a call from security stating that there was a “concerning” noise of a child coming from her apartment. Being 19 herself, it was mind-boggling at first to think that there was anything of the sort. It was only when she sat and reflected that she was able to tell what the source of the noise was and no one was prepared for it.
The woman relayed the situation, explaining that security guards knocked on her door with a disturbing complaint. “Ma’am, there are complaints that a child is screaming and crying from this exact apartment and we are very concerned," she recalled. At around 2 am, it being her second noise complaint, the 19-year-old was a little worried. It was added that the neighbors downstairs were able to hear the noises and were also worried and asked that things be checked. “We just want to know that the child’s okay,” the guards told Elizabeth. Baffled at their strange request, the woman clarified that she was only 19 and no child was living with her.

The exchange must have been awkward, upsetting, maybe even suspicious to the guards. When they left, the 19-year-old tried to seriously think about what the source of the noise might be. After giving it some thought, she finally realized the most unbelievable possibility. “You see, I like to do this voice,” Elizabeth said. She mentioned how she randomly voices the character Mort from Madagascar. The character has a baby-like, hilarious voice and she shared a demonstration by yelling, “King Juliennnn,” the character’s famous dialogue.
It immediately gave away what the commotion was all about. “I like to do that and I didn’t know that they’ve been hearing it the whole time,” she remarked, feeling a little embarrassed but also holding back laughter. People went crazy at the hysterical misunderstanding. Others were in awe of the spot-on impersonation of Mort that she did. @billion_aire2000 said, “You are the child they are concerned about.” @heireyarn added, “Haha, I am dead. I can see myself aspiring to have a noise complaint due to Mort's voice! Goals.” @riverbottomfarmsq remarked, “I love that little guy so I wouldn’t be complaining.” @itz_cutiebitz said, “I’d be friends with you, just cuz you can do impressions.”
Mimicking voices is quite a fun skill to have. In a similar instance, a man named Jay Will (@jwilltheproducer) shared a glimpse of his coworker nailing a “work voice” to get the sales from a client. As he explained the policy to the client, his calm, soothing, respectful voice was uplifting. His pronunciation and tone were perfectly in sync. When Will asked him to “talk in your real voice,” the man left the internet jaw-dropped. “What happened?” he asked Will. The two words were enough to reveal the stark difference between his “work voice” and “real voice.” From being soothing and serene, his tone dropped to an exhausted yet chilled, deep one. Call it a talent or just fun, it’s these humor-filled delights that add to making even simple experiences lighthearted and memorable.
