She dedicatedly attended strangers' funerals for 2 years—funeral director was blown away when he learned the reason

No one expects something extraordinary or surprising to take place at a funeral. It is meant to be a somber event, to sympathize with grieving family members and pay last respects. In a surprising turn of events, a woman named Daniela Signor had other plans, The Vice reported. The woman had been attending funerals consistently for two years, leaving many wondering who she was and why she was present at a stranger’s funeral. The obvious thought is that she wanted to be kind and go one step beyond paying last respects to strangers. However, the reason has the internet jaw-dropped.

The woman hailed from Pinhalzinho, a small town in southwest São Paulo. The population there is lower and so people are more tight-knit and acquainted with each other. So when the woman started showing up at random funerals, many people didn’t question her presence. They believed that she must have known the deceased or the family and wanted to join in their mourning. Signor noted that she didn’t like going to funerals either. Why then was she so adamant about showing up at every funeral since 2023? Her reason is beyond astonishing. It all began at a distant relative’s funeral in April 2023.

While Signor attended that funeral to pay respects to a deceased family relative, she also spotted Apollo Scariot, the local funeral director. The man was focused on doing his job and maintaining the somber scenario. However, Signor was head over heels from the minute she spotted him at the funeral. As bizarre as it seems, the woman took a liking to the man and showed up to every funeral thereafter just so she could see him. Unfortunately, there were times when the man would not show up. Nevertheless, she remained persistent for two years in this unusual practice.
It must have been fate that her strange efforts paid off and she finally started talking to Scariot. They eventually started dating and have even married recently. Now known as Daniela Signor Scariot, the woman is glad her colorful approach somehow worked. When she knew it was the right time, she spilled the beans to her partner. “He had no idea. I only told him later when we finally started talking. Then he was like, ‘Wait, how did I never notice you before?’ He was always so focused on work,” she recalled. Since the whole funeral setting played a crucial role in bringing them together, the bride had an even crazier idea to make it symbolic.

In a clip shared by The Mirror, a hearse is seen appearing at the wedding where the guests are seated. It was Signor in the vehicle, marking the symbolism of the hearse and funerals as the turning point in her love life. A banner that read, “Till death do us part,” was also placed at the back of the hearse. One can only imagine the guests' reactions. “Everyone at the wedding was shocked. But once we read out our story, people understood why I arrived in the hearse,” the woman noted. Many people found the idea unusual; some even said it was creepy and “weird,” while still others found humor in it all. Lucy Charnick said, “I'd be furious if that woman showed up at a family member's funeral for that reason.” Elsa Mirna Gomez wrote, “I think that is the point of his job and being able to find somebody who can take that atmosphere as a spouse.”
