The flight that you take in hopes of seeing a loved one on their deathbed is one of the hardest journeys ever. No one wants to receive the news that they have lost someone close to them, especially when they were expecting to see them one last time. Yet one passenger, Lisa, who goes by @lisamco on Threads, got this heartbreaking call just as boarding began. She was told that her dad, whom she was flying to see, had just passed away. With a heavy heart, she boarded the plane. According to the post she shared on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, she was preparing herself for an emotionally difficult flight, but the cabin crew showed her compassion when she needed it the most.

Lisa’s dad was in the hospital, and she was flying to see him, but the staff called her and informed her that he had died. As she got on the plane, she recalled being a mess. Fighting back tears didn’t work; she was dealing with an overwhelming pain that nothing could soothe. That’s when one flight attendant, Dana, offered a hug. Another staff member offered a box of tissues. After a while, another employee came to check on her, bringing a second box of tissues and a handwritten note on behalf of the crew. It read, “We are sending you prayers and strength as you navigate this profound loss. We love you.”

The woman who was just beginning to navigate the painful process of grief noted that the crew's service that day was exceptional and exactly what she needed. “I hope that this flight crew knows how precious they are and that they have all chosen the right profession,” she wrote. Dealing with the death of a loved one can leave a person feeling helpless, broken, and lost. Although grief takes time to process, compassion and support can make the journey a little easier. In another bittersweet flight experience, a passenger praised the crew for their kindness to her. She and her boyfriend booked last-minute seats on a flight after she learned her dad had suddenly passed away.

They didn’t get seats together, so the woman requested that a flight attendant find a way to keep her close to her partner because she didn’t want to cry next to a stranger. The worker was understanding, and when she couldn’t find seats in their cabin, she sent them both to first class. Later, the cabin crew came to check on her and asked if she needed anything. She requested chamomile tea, but the staff had none. Yet, the airline worker didn’t refuse. She went from passenger to passenger, asking if anyone had tea bags, and got one for the woman. The simple gestures of kindness became an unforgettable source of comfort to the grieving daughter.
