Nicki had grown suspicious of her boyfriend, who had been increasingly secretive with his phone. She was prepared to find proof of infidelity, but what she wasn't ready for were the texts in his phone. She began snooping on his phone and found a message thread saved under the name "God's Doing." She wrote, "Now I'm mad because God don't text, so I already had my chest tight thinking this had to be another woman." As she opened the thread, she noticed several payments being made to the contact. But then she saw the message that left her speechless. Nicki's son's biological father was going through a financial crisis after being laid off from his job.
Unbeknownst to Nicki, her partner had decided to help him out so that her son wouldn't feel the impact. The message read, "I know how much you love your son, and as men we have to stick together. Take this and celebrate with your son like you always do. I'd rather look like the stepdad that doesn't do much than for you to look like the dad that doesn't do nothing." Nicki, who was stunned by the revelation, dropped to her knees and broke down in tears. Despite facing financial struggles, she noticed that her baby's father never stopped showing up for their son. She wrote, "And the whole time, it was because my man was quietly sending him money so my son never felt the difference."
