We’re used to the banter among many couples where they get suspicious, check each other’s phones or follow each other. While mostly a prank, it all comes from a place of love. A woman named Megan Daubert  (@megandaubertpodcast) shared a video where she’s intently following her husband on his run. While it may seem like it’s a prank or something exaggerated, the reason left many shocked. After learning why the woman was bent on following her husband, the internet assures it’s nothing but a symbol of love and care. The video captures Daubert a few steps behind her husband, while he is intently focused on running and covering his steps.

The woman added that he was “not supposed” to be taking the run in the first place but nevertheless, she decided to follow him when he persisted. It might seem controlling or excessive at first until an unbelievable explanation clarified everything. Daubert revealed the heartbreaking reality that her husband suffered a cardiac arrest while playing soccer. “He was without oxygen for 24 minutes. He was miraculously revived but not without consequence,” she added. Her Instagram shares a few glimpses of her husband’s challenging recovery process and it is no less than a miracle how he came through.

In another video, Daubert explained that her husband suffered a brain injury, memory loss and was also on the ventilator before being hospitalized for three months. It was a slow and earnest road to recovery before the man could talk and do the simplest things. Another video captured how his day back home after 74 days of hospitalization started helping him feel better and hopeful. While he is still undergoing therapy and certain treatments, Daubert is still very cautious about his health. When the man came home, he went out on a run or workout every once in a while to help with recovery.

“Running without a coach was a wee bit too much for him because he didn’t realize when enough was enough,” she revealed. She had to be vigilant about every minor detail regarding his heart rate and health. “This was scary the first few times he did this to me, then it became funny and as time went on, he got better about listening to me tell him his limitations,” the woman wrote in her caption. Unfortunately, memory loss made it harder for him to retain that information so Daubert had to ensure she had things in check. That was the reason behind her following him — “to make sure his defibrillator doesn’t go off.”

People were heartbroken at the idea of how scary and exhausting each moment must feel. Yet, they found hope in the powerful love Daubert had that pushed her to do more for him each day as he recovered. Many shared caveats of how important it was for the man to heed the doctor and not ignore the warnings. Others commended the woman for her resilience. @laurel_at_thehive said, “You’re an amazing wife! Thanks for letting us in on things like this. Your journey is so inspiring. God bless you!” @_whatscooking added, “You’re awesome! Giving him some space and freedom while keeping him safe. Well done!”
