She thought bragging about money and not tipping on their first date was a red flag — then his dessert order sent her running
First dates tend to highlight values, manners, and priorities in ways that are hard to ignore. In a TikTok video shared by Lolita (@queenlolitaa), the content creator has shared how a first date turned uncomfortable, when certain choices and money talks by the man she was with started giving her the ick. Lolita spoke calmly while doing her makeup, calling it one of the worst first dates of her life. In a video posted on Sunday, January 4, 2026, she revealed how each moment added to her growing unease.

The content creator explained that she met the man when she was out with her cousin. He approached her politely, looked well-dressed, and seemed confident. He was 32, an engineer, tall, good-looking Muslim. She recalled thinking things felt “too good to be true, so far so good.” He lived in Ottawa while she was from Montreal, and he offered to drive two hours to see her the following weekend. She liked that effort and agreed to dinner. On the day of the date, he arrived on time, had a nice car, and looked sharp. Everything felt right until he parked the car.
Payment was needed for parking to avoid a ticket. So, Lolita helped him use the parking app. When it showed $8 for three hours, he reacted with shock and frustration. She stayed quiet, feeling his reaction was not her problem. He paid, and they walked to the restaurant while he gave her compliments. She decided to move past the parking moment. Inside, however, he spent about 30 minutes talking about money, savings, and investments. At one point, he said, “When it comes to my money, I’m just like a Jew,” which made her uncomfortable and confused. He even asked her to open her notes app and write down financial advice, making her feel like she was in a meeting, not a date.
The food only added to the tension. He ordered three small plates and ate most of them, while she hadn’t had enough. He refused to order drinks, saying they cost too much, then asked if she was still hungry before calling for the bill. The total came to about $50, yet the man studied the bill far longer than expected for such a small amount. After paying, he rushed her out, explaining he did not tip because the system was in French and he wanted to leave before the waitress returned. "I'm sweating from [sic] embarrassment," expressed the user as she recalled the incident. Outside, he suggested ice cream before the date ended. When the server suggested a medium size for a small price difference, as the man ordered three flavors in small cups, the man refused, saying, “Oh no, that’s 75 cents extra, I cannot do that.” She lowered her gaze, unwilling to meet the cashier’s judging eyes. After the date, she ignored his messages, which continued to brag about money, and decided that silence was the best response to the red flag.
