Woman said she had to check with her friends before a second date — then sent their ‘verdict’ photo and left her date stunned
A first date doesn’t always lead to a second. And while getting rejected is normal, one woman was stunned to receive a rejection text that prompted her to block her date on all social media. TikTok user @Shepathy had gone out with a woman, and while she was texting her date, she realized that her date was hesitant about becoming emotionally invested. However, what was assumed to be a simple rejection text turned out to be a "verdict photo" that left her shocked. Sharing the story with her TikTok users on January 23, 2026, the creator revealed that being a lesbian was never easy, per Newsweek.

The content creator had begun dating a girl with whom she went out for line dancing. She assumed that they had a great time and began planning their next date when the woman's tone shifted. She realized that her date was worried about something and asked her to be upfront about her feelings. However, her date claimed that she was worried about developing strong feelings for the storyteller. While the TikTok user was flattered by her remark, she was also expecting a rejection coming her way. Her date told her that she wanted to discuss it with her friends. An hour later, she received a letdown text, which did not surprise her. However, as she was talking to her best friend and filling her in on what was happening, she took a closer look at the screenshot sent by the woman. The image left her horrified. The photo included a group of the date's friends standing in a circle, giving thumbs down to the user.
"They took a poll on whether or not they should go on a date with me again. In what world is that an appropriate thing to send to someone?" she said in the video. Interestingly, one of her nine friends had a thumbs-up reaction in the photo. When she confronted the woman, her date replied, "Sorry, I thought it would be good stand-up material." Unfortunately, the creator doesn't do stand-up. At the end of the video, she attaches the picture sent by the date. Although she apologized for her "insensitive" action, the TikTok user blocked her from all social media and revealed that she was planning to do a sleepover at her place to meet their cat.
Online users who were equally baffled by the story had hilarious reactions to it. @mrroes joked, "Go on a date with the one who gave you a thumbs up." @mik commented, "My first thought was: how… how do you get nine adults together so last minute just for this photo op?" @Caroline remarked, "'I wish I could talk to my friends about this' to a whole Supreme Court of them within an hour is out of this world."
