Gabrielle said she had gone to the store to pick up some candy when the woman asked about another pregnancy. After the content creator said no, the woman replied, "Oh, it's just leftover from the last one." Gabrielle thought that was "rude" and immediately explained that she has an "autoimmune disease." The stranger answered, "Oh, okay." The mom revealed more details of her condition on her GoFundMe page, talking about how she suffers from polycystic liver disease, a progressive illness that causes multiple cysts to develop in the liver. As these cysts grow, they can enlarge the liver and affect a person's health and daily life, according to Liver UK. In Gabrielle's case, the disease had progressed to the point where she may need a liver transplant.
Her GoFundMe further revealed that the content creator is sharing her health journey to raise awareness about the disease and also to seek financial support. The condition has brought major medical challenges, while the possibility of a liver transplant has added another serious concern. Gabrielle said the expenses connected with a transplant can be significant, which is why she is asking for help through her fundraising effort. Her experience also shows why people should avoid making assumptions or commenting on a mother's body without knowing what she may be going through.
