Friendship and support can come to people from the most unlikely places. So when a 97-year-old grandma was struggling to walk to her destination with the help of a cane, she wasn't expecting to make a friend. However, a woman, Estrella Quiroz, was driving by the same place to get lunch when she noticed that the old woman, Lilian, was walking slowly and carefully and might need help. She decided to approach Lilian and that one moment changed things for both of them, per a video shared by Estrella, who goes by @estrellaq95 on TikTok.

Estrella spotted Lilian walking across the street and decided to turn around and offer her a ride. "I found her, let me get my car." She went up to Lilian and greeted her in Spanish. "I saw you walking. Want me to drive you?" she asked. "You'll take me?" Lilian wondered and Estrella reassured her as she helped her get in the car. "You are taking me for free? Why?" The younger woman explained to Lilian that she reminded her of her grandmother. "How old are you?" she questioned and was surprised to know that the grandma was 97 years old. "When you want, you can come to my house," the grateful grandma expressed. They introduced themselves and Estrella pointed out that they were friends now.

@estrellaq95 @Wendy’s can you hook my new 97 year old bestie with Wendy’s for the rest of her life?! She’s on a budget 😭❤️ This was so serendipitous, I was on my way to pick up lunch when I saw her crossing the street! I was shocked because it was so hot outside. I turned around and found her waiting for the bus to go run errands so I offered a ride! She was also born in the same city my dad was born! We were meant to meet. ❤️ Please talk to the elderly when you’re able to. Many are alone / have limited resources. #wendys #elderly #seniors #bffs #miami #fyp #grandma #abuelita #grandmasoftiktok ♬ Los Caminos De La Vida - La Tropa Vallenata

The old woman hadn't eaten at that time, so the 29-year-old decided to buy food for her at Wendy's. Lilian revealed that she couldn't afford the meal Estrella had bought. "Don't worry about the money, it's a gift, free." The grandma went on, "I live on a budget because I live off what the government gives me." They talked and found out that they were both from Nicaragua and Lilian was born in Leon, just like Estrella's dad. "Not having anyone is really sad," Lilian explained and Estrella told her that she had her as a friend now. "Ah, yes, now we'll be friends." The two of them stopped by at a place to eat their meal from Wendy's. "I am really grateful for your friendship. May god bless us and make us friends," Lilian shared.

In the caption, Estrella revealed that Lilian was waiting for the bus so she could go and run some errands. "Can you hook my new 97-year-old bestie with Wendy’s for the rest of her life? She’s on a budget," the caption read. She also started a GoFundMe for the grandma, so she could live her life comfortably. The GoFundMe was able to collect $8,430 for Lilian, who was grateful for all the love she received, according to an update. Estrella bought Nicaraguan food for Lilian as she went to her with the surprise. She also told Lilian that she would help her manage the money. In one of the comments, Estrella shared that the donations had reached over $18,600.

People appreciated the woman's gesture in the comments section of the video. @faith__sara__p wrote, "She’s all of our grandma now. Father God, please cover Estrella and abuela. Provide them with financial abundance, new adventures and opportunities. May they spend many more years together. Amen." @_carolinemary commented, "It is so sad how society treats the elderly. There isn't enough support for them and assisted living is so expensive. They need their family and community to help. Thank you for being such a kind soul and being there for her. You made a difference in her life."

@estrellaq95 Replying to @Katie Part 2 of my 97 year old new bestie! 🥹 y’all raised TRIPLE our goal amount in one day! Per everyone’s advice, I will help pay her support directly so it doesn’t negatively affect her (and she can get the necessities she needs) Thank you to the friends and kind strangers who are going to help me turn her life around in the next few weeks by sorting her caregiver situation, house cleanings, and rent! I will keep y’all updated and introduce them to you! It’s always been my dream to do something like this and you are all helping me live this. Thank you!!! I am traveling the next couple of weeks for work (on a mission to help millions through my startup @lastfarewellsapp so I can do more of this), but have friends checking in on her while I’m gone! Bless EVERYONE!!! #abuelitas #seniorcare #gratitude #besties #fyp #seniors #bffs #miami #gofundme ♬ Los Caminos de la Vida - Instrumental - Aramis cadena & Victor Cadena
