Not everyone understands or accepts same-sex relationships, and some people may struggle to see them in the same way as heterosexual relationships. A simple evening took an uncomfortable turn for content creator Lanna when a stranger approached her and her date in a public park. The man directed his attention toward her date and began complimenting her before asking for her number. Lanna explained that they were already on a date, but the man ignored her and kept talking to her partner. However, the man's decision to return after walking away and ask an unexpected question left them even more shocked. The encounter was shared under the handle @keylimelanna on Instagram on April 24, 2026.

The man kept pushing after being told she was not interested. Lanna said his manner felt intense, and they became concerned about the situation. He finally turned away, but after a few steps, he came back with one question: "Why not men?" He wanted to know why two attractive women would choose women instead. Her date felt she did not need to explain their identity to a stranger and simply told him to leave. Lanna added that they felt unsafe because he was not respecting their requests. The man eventually walked away, ending an encounter that had already become deeply uncomfortable.

While curiosity can lead to questions, it should never come at the expense of respecting someone's identity. The content creator later explained that this was not the only uncomfortable situation they faced that evening. She said there were three separate moments when they had to be firm with strangers and tell them to "go away." The experience also made Lanna reflect on the place where they live in Germany. Although their city is considered left-leaning, she said queer visibility is still limited.

They did not see many openly queer people around them, which can make it harder to feel that such relationships are fully accepted in daily life. For them, the repeated incidents showed how tiring such attention can become. The experience also left the content creator wishing she lived somewhere with a larger queer community.

Some individuals fail to respect personal boundaries or accept rejection. This was the case for another woman in a similar incident when a man approached her and asked if she was single. She calmly explained that she was gay, expecting the answer to end the conversation. Instead, he paused and asked, "Does it matter?" The question caught her off guard because she had already made her feelings clear. The woman could only respond with a simple, "Yeah," in that situation.

The exchange stood out because the man had initially seemed polite. He introduced himself, said he found her attractive, and then proceeded to ask her out without appearing aggressive. Yet, he struggled to accept that she was simply not interested in men. She should not have needed to explain her identity again to make the rejection clear. The moment showed how even a calm approach can become unsettling when someone refuses to accept a direct answer.
