Struggling employee wearing '2 different old looking sneakers' to office breaks down after finding anonymous note on desk

Dressing well at your workplace certainly makes a difference. It can not only make a person feel confident but help them to leave a great impression on colleagues. Unfortunately, not everyone can afford fancy clothing or footwear when they are kick-starting their professional life. A person on Reddit, who goes by u/Mac2311, came forward to share a heartwarming workplace story involving a financially struggling colleague in response to a prompt made by another user, u/bingingwithbaggins. "What was the nicest thing you've done anonymously?" the prompt read.

So, u/Mac2311 shared the story about a fellow employee in the company where he worked. The young employee was noticeably poor as he used to appear at the workplace wearing mismatched pair of shoes, which were old and worn-out. "I managed to find out his shoe size roughly by comparing his to mine standing next to him one day," the post read. "I bought him a new pair of work boots and put them on his workbench early the next morning so no one could find out that I did it."
The man also placed a note alongside the pair of boots to tell the colleague that he deserved happiness too. "I stayed away from giving anyone a clue it was me. I did see him crying some happy tears, made me feel really good," the post concluded. The wholesome act by u/Mac2311 left other readers in awe. Some went on to share events where strangers did something good for them. u/Waxer_Evios62 remarked, "This thread is full of great stories but I found yours to be really sweet. You helped someone who wanted to work, no matter the conditions."

u/kitchenperks shared a similar story, "I've done this once. This guy came in to work with us and his clothes were huge on him and his shoes were beyond wearable. I had a brand new pair in my car and I gave them to him. He wore them exactly once. I later saw those shoes on another employee. I never asked the guy what happened but later put 2 and 2 together. He was an alcoholic and worked a job until people got fed up with his lack of work ethic. Turned out that he sold those shoes I gave him for $10. I was disappointed but it didn't stop me from helping others any chance I got." u/Stats_with_a_Z remarked, "You are a saint and I wish you all the good fortune you hope for."

u/SinkHoleDeMayo quipped, "When I was in my early 20s, I worked in a manufacturing facility and was standing on concrete most of the day. Wore my old Doc Martens. They were in great shape but apparently, they weren't comfortable after 4-5 years of not being worn. I wore them every day to work and by the end of the day, I wanted to break down a cry because my feet hurt so bad. After a couple of weeks, I finally was able to afford a new pair of boots. New footwear can make a hell of a difference in life. You did something awesome."
