Teacher froze after finding her old photos as a screensaver on a student’s phone — then she learned the truth about his dad
Teachers often come across unexpected moments in classrooms, but some leave a lasting impression. Tricia Campbell (@triciacams) recently shared one such experience after discovering surprising old photos of herself displayed on a student’s phone screen while trying to return the forgotten device. The unusual moment immediately left her confused as more pictures of herself continued appearing on the screen, one after another, before she eventually uncovered an unexpected connection involving the student’s father from years earlier. She later posted the story online on March 17, 2026.
@triciacams Turns out I was his dad’s teacher and these were from an old yearbook! 😂😂

Campbell explained that the phone had been left behind on her desk, so she picked it up, hoping to identify its owner and return it. At first, she checked the photos placed inside the back phone case, but they did not help because she did not recognize the person. Things seemed stranger after she looked at the lock screen and noticed an old black-and-white photo of herself set as the wallpaper. As she tapped the screen again, even more old photos of herself appeared and rotated across the display one after another from different years. In a follow-up video, she clarified that she had also taught the student's dad, and he likely found her pictures in his old yearbook.
Although the moment initially shocked her, she later found the entire situation funny and unexpected rather than upsetting. Small classroom moments like these often become memorable because they connect different generations in surprising ways that nobody expects beforehand. Campbell explained in the video that the photos were taken many years ago, when she was teaching the boy's dad in the early 2000s. Commenters chimed in with surprise and laughter. @mlgarrett5 wrote, "As a former teacher, I find this absolutely hilarious." @pendejaconeja added, "You have a comedian in your class." @kammreeee_ remarked, "This might be the funniest, harmless, student-teacher prank ever."
Just like the incident above, sometimes something as simple as a yearbook can unexpectedly reveal old connections. That is exactly what happened to one couple when the wife found an old handwritten note from her husband while looking through school memories years after they got married. While flipping through the pages, she came across a funny message he had written as a teenager, saying, “Have a good summer and try not to think as hard as this guy,” next to a funny sketch of a stressed man.
The unexpected discovery immediately brought back memories from their younger days together. “I was like, ‘I wonder if we have any pictures together in high school,’” she recalled while explaining the moment. Even though they lost touch after graduation, they later met again by chance years afterward and eventually started dating. Now married with children, the couple still laughs about the old yearbook note and their very different personalities.
