Teen tells his 5-year-old brother that he's gay — the kid's reaction is completely unexpected

While our society has come a long way in raising awareness, many people from the LGBTQ+ community are still struggling for acceptance. However, the presence of people who understand, empathize, and accept them as equals often makes up for the discrimination. Similarly, despite the challenges that came with being open about his sexuality, Oliver Potter (@olivervlogss) was lucky to have a little brother who loved and accepted him wholeheartedly for who he truly was.

Potter uploaded a video on YouTube, where he revealed his identity to his little brother to see his reaction. "So, Alf, the reason for this video is that I wanted to have a conversation with you. We are going to talk about love," Potter said, struggling to figure out the most gentle way to tell his brother he was gay. Potter began by asking his brother about his general perception of love, marriage, and children. To this, Alf, his little brother, said, "So, if you're a mom and you want to be in love with a dad, you get in love with them," revealing his innocent, childlike perception about relationships. Potter, then, slowly started introducing the whole concept of same-sex relationships by first giving an example of their sister and her girlfriend, and then casually mentioning that he did not have a girlfriend.

"So, how would it make you feel if I married a man?" he asked. At first, Alf seemed shocked as he looked at his brother in utter disbelief, but then he said, "If you marry a man, it's going to be so cool! Love is love." Potter, who was already emotional from Alf's heartfelt reaction, went on to explain to his brother how couples, especially the men in homosexual relationships, can't have biological kids. "Are you okay with it? Are you okay with the fact that I married a man?" he asked, and his brother Alf responded with a big, gleeful "Yes."
The video received an overwhelming response on social media, with people praising Potter for his bravery and his little brother, Alf, for showcasing remarkable understanding despite his age. @bahoonies commented, "The two of you are so sweet, and you are such a loving big brother. YouTube led me here from watching another coming-out video. Although 4 years have passed since you made this video, I hope they have been very happy years for two special brothers." Similarly, @jamie-ro6sx wrote, "This is brilliant. There should be more transgender women, men, and nonbinary people out there who can openly and bravely come out. Just as you have with being gay. You are an inspiration."
Meanwhile, @billyhornsby7842 said, "I will always love a person whether they're gay or not, because sexuality doesn't matter; it's what is on the inside that counts." @tonyadams4989 pointed out, "This is so awesome! Alfie was not taught bad things! Proof that children are taught to judge, etc. Alfie is going to be an awesome adult!" @kianahosseini800 recalled, "I remember watching this not knowing what gay or sexuality is, not understanding English, and thinking every girl has a crush on other girls, but now I know."

@waynesmith3908 said, "Ollie, you literally could not have chosen a finer or more brilliant brother than Alfie. I think that lad has you all beat, hahaaa!" On the other hand, @keithturner6924 explained, "Me personally, I wouldn't explain that to a 5-year-old, but everybody is different. I don't think he really understands it anyway."
