A routine grocery trip can feel very different when a stranger seems interested in where you are headed. Clothing brand owner and content creator Jessica Wong found herself terrified when she noticed a man from the supermarket following her car as she drove home. Instead of continuing into her residential complex, she decided to confront the stranger before revealing where she lived. What he said after she asked him directly about following her shocked her and later prompted her to warn other women to stay alert in similar situations. Wong shared the incident later on Instagram on September 24, 2026, under the username @jessleewongunfiltered.

Jessica had been checking out at a supermarket when she noticed a man in another checkout line and briefly made eye contact with him. After putting her groceries in the car, she drove away and soon noticed the same vehicle behind her. Since she lived close to the store, she knew the roads well and could tell the car was making the same turns as she was. At a stop sign before the turn into her complex, she decided to not go further. She rolled down her window and asked the driver if he was following her. To her shock, he simply replied, "Yeah." The answer left her stunned as she realized he had knowingly followed her to her home.

Jessica stayed at the stop sign instead of driving into her community. She kept watching the man and gave him a firm stare while refusing to move. After some time, he finally drove away, allowing her to turn around and wait before eventually heading back to her community. Staying aware of the car behind her helped the content creator avoid revealing her exact destination, and that kind of attention can matter when a situation suddenly feels unsafe.

Jessica later said this was not the first time she had experienced something similar after leaving a supermarket. She explained that she makes an effort to notice the people and cars around her because she cannot know what another person's intentions might be. "You never know," she said as she described what happened. She also pointed out that the incident happened in broad daylight and seemed harmless to the man, even though she felt it could have placed her in serious danger. The experience also pushed Jessica to remind other women to stay aware when they are out alone.

Staying vigilant, especially when alone, can help avoid dangerous situations. In another similar incident, a shopper became uneasy after noticing the same man appearing near her in several parts of a large store. She kept track of the repeated encounters and soon realized he had no clear reason to be nearby. When she spotted him again close to her checkout lane, she decided to seek help instead of leaving alone. "That's enough," she recalled thinking before calling a manager. Security later walked her to her car, while she stressed, "Never ever leave the store if you have any inkling that someone might be following you."
