Toddler promised mom that she smiled for the school picture—the results made her a local celebrity

Kids often express themselves in the funniest ways, and it's best when parents get a record of it. One mom got the most priceless memory from her toddler because of her unique smile in the school picture. Kallee Spencer, who goes by @kalleespencer on TikTok, asked her daughter how she smiled for her school picture. She smiled in a usual way for her mom, but the actual reveal turned out to be completely different, with the clip receiving over 372,600 views on the platform.

The mom was dropping her 2-year-old, Hadlee, at her daycare center when the teacher remarked, "She said, 'I can’t wait for you to see Hadlee’s class photo — but you’re going to have to wait,'" per TODAY.com. The mom had no idea what that meant. After the photo was released, another mom from the class texted Kallee, "Hadlee’s class photo should be her graduation picture." The woman checked the school website and could finally see what everyone was talking about. Every other kid in the class was staring at the camera, while her daughter had put one finger inside each side of her mouth and pulled it into a smile. "That’s what she normally does. That’s her smile."

"Did you take pictures at school today?" the mom asked the daughter in a video. "How did you smile? Show me how you smiled." Hadlee gave her a big, cheerful smile and assured her mom that was how she had smiled for the school picture as well. The woman was quite surprised when she saw the actual result and shared it at the end of the video. "School picture fail," the caption read. Kallee told the outlet that the girl had turned into a local celebrity in their small town and people even asked for her autograph as a joke. Hadlee was all happy about it, too.
People shared how the picture was a precious memory and revealed their own hilarious picture day stories in the comments section of the video. @billmiller6450 wrote, "My daughter talked us into letting her use fake tattoos... we didn't know it was picture day until afterwards. The photographer had her posing against a tree with arms crossed, best photos ever." @momof5club commented, "My sister has a picture of my nephew in a green shirt for picture day (she forgot)… he blended in with the green screen so all you see are his head and arms." @welsherdr remarked, "Omg! I love her! This is just perfection! I hope you frame one of each picture of her big toothy grin and the finger grin for her senior graduation!"

@j712808 shared, " My son’s first-grade photo (he’s almost 19 now) was just as hilarious. I didn’t see his hand through the window on the envelope, so I laughed so hard when I pulled the entire photo out. He did a nod to this photo for me and threw a double Shaka when he got his diploma in 2024." Another user expressed, "You’re gonna especially love these when she grows up! (My favorite school picture of me, from about thirty years ago lol, I was giving the camera an evil like Kubrick stare and looked insane. God, I love it, lol.)" Kallee often shares snippets of her daughter's shenanigans on the platform. In one video, she was seen reciting the rhyme "No more monkeys jumping on the bed."
