Uber released its 9th Annual Lost & Found Index, listing the most bizarre and most common belongings they have come across in the backseats of vehicles over the past 12 months. Jewelry, toys, food, phones, wallets and so on are commonly left behind, but there are also absurd items like a DNA testing kit and Bermuda shorts, among others. The one that tops the list is a "mannequin head with human hair.” Imagine a driver turning around to find a human-like head in the backseat, only to chuckle and realize what it really is.

New York, Miami and Chicago are the top three areas where people have commonly left behind their possessions, leaving Houston at spot #10 on the list. Camiel Irving, the Vice President of Operations and the General Manager for rides in the US & Canada at Uber, said, “Uber riders have left behind some truly unforgettable items this year.” From weddings, fitness, kids and other categories, there’s almost everything you can think of that has been lost by people during their Uber ride. The impressive lists have been laid out by the company, and it truly goes on and on. However, the most important question is how to retrieve these items. Uber has a solution.

2. Locate the trip where you believe you lost an item.

3. You will find a “Help” section with the option to “Find lost item.” There will also be an option to “Contact the driver” for the lost item.

4. Next, you need to point out where you may have left the item in the vehicle and select from the impressively varied list what your item is.

5. You can call and get in touch with the driver and share any other details for further assistance.

6. If your item has been found and the driver can confirm it, you can meet and reunite with your possession.

7. If not, you can leave a voicemail with more specifications and contact details and hope for the best.

If you just happen to leave your phone behind, don’t fret. Simply log into Uber’s “Help” section, and there will be assistance to guide you through.
