Wedding photographer braced for bad news after a bride saw her wedding photos and sent a long text — but her confession left him sobbing
Wedding photographs capture life's biggest milestones. Occasionally, they also change the way someone sees themselves. When photographer Kurt Wagner, who goes by @kurtwagnerphoto, received a long text from a client whose wedding he had photographed a few weeks earlier, he immediately assumed he had messed up. "You're not supposed to get a text that large in this industry. It's usually a bad thing," he remarked. However, the lengthy message said otherwise. In an Instagram video posted on Wednesday, June 24, 2025, Wagner revealed one line from the text that brought him to tears.
When Wagner opened a text from his client one morning, he immediately began freaking out. However, as soon as he read the message, he felt relieved. The woman thanked him for making their wedding photos one of the most memorable parts of her big day. But one line caught his eye and made him sob. "I've never been someone who easily sees myself as beautiful." After pausing to process the bride's confession, he continued to read, "For the first time, I saw myself the way the people I love must see me."
Wagner said the bride's message made his day as he reflected on the impact such words have on photographers like him. Holding back tears, he explained that his work was about more than weddings; it was about helping couples sustain their love for years to come. Sharing the heartfelt video online, the man advised, "Don't settle for a photographer who just documents the event. Get the one who can see you the way your loved ones see you."
Wagner's video won hearts online, with viewers heaping praise on the bride's message. @photosbysuky mentioned, "I love everything about this! The best feeling." @sarah.joy.photo expressed, "Ah, you are such a gem! What a beautiful text to receive!" @kendraruthphoto wrote, "The kind of message that every photographer dreams of getting."
After photographing countless weddings, some moments still manage to surprise even seasoned photographers. In another story, wedding photographer Dylan Parde recalled an awkward moment he experienced at an event. While taking photos of the groom's parents, he asked them to kiss for the camera. He noticed that they hesitated before leaning in.
Parde later learned from the groom that his parents had been divorced for quite some time. The groom was caught off-guard after watching his father and mother share a kiss years later. Parde was completely shocked by the incident and urged people not to follow everything that a photographer says. Although he apologized to the elderly couple, they did not seem to take offense at the situation.
