A teenager's observation and courage to take action proved to be life-saving for a 92-year-old woman. It all began when the 13-year-old boy, Luke Mullard, heard a loud bang and saw smoke during his bus ride home. Luke quickly got down from the bus and went to check on the house that was on fire. He managed to pull out the woman, Roma Wilson, just in time before another explosion happened. She was very thankful for what the young teen did for her in the harrowing situation, per ABC News.

It was a usual day for the teen from Hunter Valley, who was simply coming back from school when the explosion happened. "I jumped off the bus and ran down and saw this elderly woman," Luke recounted. The teen quickly rushed to the house and called the emergency number 000. Both Roma's house and her van were on fire by the time Luke ran to save her. "I walked around the grass area and the side fence and saw Roma. I tried to get her out and literally 30 seconds later, there was a massive explosion." The woman was screaming for help, but nobody could hear her over the explosions, according to the teen. "She kept on yelling for help and no one could actually hear her because of the explosions and you couldn't see her."

So the woman was really grateful to see Luke come to her rescue. He quickly helped the woman walk away from the fire and got her inside an air-conditioned car. She was there, safe and sound, until the emergency services arrived to help her out, per the outlet. The fire was probably started because of a battery inside an electric scooter. Roma was watching TV inside her house when the explosion happened. She could hear noises and smell smoke, so she quickly checked the door to her garage. It was filled with smoke and Roma panicked right at that moment. She took a bag with her and came out of the side door. But all her possible exits were blocked because of the fire.

"By this time, I'm trying to sing out, 'Can anyone help me?' and that's when Luke walked up." The teen went on, "It was the right place, right time moment." The woman was surprised by the young teen's courage. "Just so wonderful, he's only 13." He also asked Roma if anyone else was inside the house and reassured her that the fire brigade and ambulance were on their way to help her. Luke wanted to become a first responder after he turned 18. "I've done my research, it sucks because I want to drop out and become a first responder, but you have to be 18."

The police visited the teen's house to appreciate his brave act. "They were sort of gobsmacked…they thought I was a little bit older. The detective turned around and told Mum, 'You don't know what he did, do you? He saved someone's life.'" People appreciated the teen in the comments section of NBN Television's Facebook post. Matt Bailey wrote, "What a little legend! This shows good old school morals. Well done, young fella, you and your parents should be proud." Melissa Dimovski commented, "Well done, mate, for doing the right thing in the community."
