Woman called off her wedding and lost venue deposit — one minor act by a stranger left her in tears
A big event getting canceled can come with a lot of stress and heartache. On top of that, people might also end up paying a bomb for canceling pre-booked things like venues, decorations, food and more. One bride was also going through a difficult time after her engagement was called off eight months before the wedding. Apart from the emotional burden, the woman also had to call up each vendor and cancel stuff. Many people informed her that she won't be getting her money back. But some time later, she got a call from her venue that made her emotional, according to a TikTok video by the woman, Brigette Jean, who goes by @brigettejean on the platform. The video received over 292,800 views.
Brigette turned to TikTok because she needed help in finding a person. "When my engagement was called off almost eight months ago, I had put down first deposits on basically everything. My venue, my caterer, the florist, the band, the lighting, all that stuff." The woman had to call up all those businesses and cancel everything after her wedding was called off. She was informed that her deposits would not be returned even after the cancellation. "That's not what I am here for. I understand that there are contracts." It was a really difficult thing for the woman to call everyone and hear herself say, "Hey, my wedding is not happening."

Around a week or two after the woman had made all the calls, the venue reached out to her with some good news. The person on the other end told her that they had found someone who wanted the venue on Brigette's canceled date. "This person is an influencer and they were so excited to hear that it was available. She said, 'I won't take this date unless you guarantee me that you are going to give the bride whose wedding was canceled her money back.'" Brigette immediately started crying after hearing that. "That girl doesn't owe me anything; she doesn't owe anyone anything. The fact that she said that, I was so glad that person was getting married that day at that venue and not me."
After the wedding date had passed, Brigette felt that it would be okay to share her story. "Hopefully, you can help me find this girl because I do want to send her a message." She hoped to congratulate the bride on her wedding and thank her for the sweet gesture. The bride, Tayla, who goes by @taylasnts on TikTok, reached out to the woman in the comments section of the video. "Omg! It's me! I'm so happy they actually gave it to you!" Brigette thanked Tayla in response and expressed her gratitude for all that Tayla had done for her at that time. People appreciated the sweet gesture in the comments section of the video.

But I’m so happy to hear you were able to get the venue portion back!" @caitlinalderfer commented, "I'm so glad you were able to get this small win! Also, not that it helps the hurt, but let me tell you, calling the wedding off and losing those deposits is still so much less expensive than a divorce two years later, like I did. Dodged a bullet in the long run, even if it doesn't feel like it now!" @Jenna_lynn1 remarked, "As someone who unfortunately had to cancel her wedding a month out, this makes me so happy to hear. Sending you love!" In another video, Brigette shared that she flew to Salt Lake City for a music festival on the weekend she was supposed to get married.
