Woman decides to pull hilarious stunt on her last day at work and the internet's applauding: 'Legend'

People might want to make a mark at every place they work and be remembered. Each person might pick a different way to do so, but only a few people might think like the woman who made some interesting changes to her Slack profile picture before she left her workplace. The hilarious act left her coworkers in splits, so the woman shared her idea on the internet as well and many people found it really funny. The person, Alexandra Dye, who goes by @lexandratok on TikTok, shared her unique profile picture change online.

"On the last day of my previous job I left a little surprise for anyone who looks me up," the text overlay of the video read. Dye used Photoshop to change her picture on Slack in a white shirt and gave herself angel wings and a halo. She altered some details of her clothes as well. There was also a ribbon that read, "In loving memory." The sash even revealed her employment period, which was from February 2021 to October 2023. One of her colleagues shared a picture of the deactivated account and called her a "legend." Dye replied, "I am glad to have left my mark." The caption to the post read, "This is my legacy."
"I was working as an art director at an ad agency (specializing in social) so a lot of what we did was silly and fun," Dye told Newsweek. "I'd been there for a few years at that point and it was always sad and a little ominous to see people's Slack pictures turn grey when they left—that was also the primary way my coworkers and I learned someone was let go, when their picture would suddenly go grayscale midday. So I knew people were definitely looking." She got the idea for the change when she was talking to her coworkers while putting in her two weeks. They were quite sad to see her go as she had been at the company for quite some time and many of them had become friends.
"I was good friends with a lot of my coworkers so it was really bittersweet putting in my two weeks. I was like, 'It's not like I'm dying' and then got the idea to leave them with that photo," the woman revealed. A lot of her coworkers shared screenshots of the image with her and seemed to find it very funny. Many people took to the comments section of the video to express their thoughts on the idea and to share their own experiences. @sarah_g_phl wrote, "This is extra funny considering that deactivated account pics show up in black and white when you hover, like the person died."

@caraallen commented, "I changed mine to me in front out our building, flipping it off, my senior manager told me he thought it was funny." @ho11ywou1d remarked, "At our company, we knew when people quit or were laid off because they IMMEDIATELY did not exist in Slack anymore." @savannahsletten shared, "I got laid off with notice in 2023, so on my last day I changed my Slack status to a tombstone." @justindanger expressed, "I quit a job once and printed a picture of me with a big smile and thumbs up and captioned it 'Employee of the Month' and put it at the very top of the bulletin board where most people couldn’t reach."
