Woman felt like she was going to ‘die’ after vision went blurry—an 11-year-old swiftly came to her rescue

Life-saving angels are often the most unexpected people who come through in unimaginable scenarios. A woman named Verna Bracey-Bradshaw was fortunate to experience life-saving help from an 11-year-old angel named Allyson Bobchack, per News4Jax. The formal gospel singer is crediting her for giving her another chance at life after she heroically stepped into action. Bracey-Bradshaw was caught off guard when she started feeling uncomfortable and her vision went blurry. With the uneasy feeling rapidly progressing, she didn’t know what to expect with each passing moment. Fortunately, the 11-year-old saved the day.

The woman was in a waiting room and decided to take one of her pills. Having overcome tonsil cancer, she often experienced dryness while taking them, which caused her to choke on the pill. It caught Bracey-Bradshaw off guard and things were quickly getting bad. Being unable to get the pill out of her airway, she started losing vision and seeing things in a blur. “I felt like I was about to die,” she noted. That’s when the 11-year-old came to her rescue. Bobchack was in the waiting room with her grandmother around the same time. She spotted the woman in distress and rushed to her aid.

She started performing the Heimlich maneuver, leaving Bracey-Bradshaw in surprise. Recalling how she learned the emergency response, she credited the series “Grey’s Anatomy” for it. “There was this one girl, she was choking on something. But Meredith Grey helped her by putting her arms around her and doing that, and I remembered that and did that to her, Ms. Bradshaw,” she recounted. The woman was taken aback to see how responsibly and smartly the girl rushed into action. “And when this child came and she did that for me, I don’t think people will ever understand it meant the world to me because it’s another day of life,” she said.

The woman was able to get the pill dislodged and was able to breathe again. She is forever grateful to the little girl who acted bravely in the unexpected situation. Calling her a “she-ro,” she considers her family and hopes to stay in touch. “God used a child to save my life,” the woman remarked. As for the 11-year-old, she is glad that she was able to learn and save a life. Understanding the value of it right in that moment has her hoping that others, too, might understand the importance of learning such first aid techniques. “I loved that I saved her life because now she is alive and well. And I’m so glad for that,” Bobchack said.
Bracey-Bradshaw reposted the interview she shared on her Facebook page and it left hundreds mesmerized. Darnell Morris said, “Glad to know you're okay. God is awesome with using a young one!” Jeneen Bayley added, “Thank God for that young lady’s knowledge of what to do, bravery to do it, and for her success!” Debra Hagan noted, “That's great news! So glad you are all right. A beautiful little hero.” Angela Ponder-Scarlett wrote, “I'm so glad that little angel was there and you're okay.”
