Woman found it alarming he was dating just a month after his ex-girlfriend’s death — then a story about another ex raised an even bigger red flag
A first date can reveal details that make someone rethink the whole evening. A San Diego-based woman grew uneasy after learning that her date's former girlfriend had passed away just a month earlier, yet he was already meeting someone new. That alone made her question his readiness for another relationship, but what he later shared about a different woman from his past concerned her even more. The story was later shared by @baggedblossom on July 12, 2026, on TikTok, after she looked back at the date.

The evening became even more concerning when he shared details about another former girlfriend that raised an even bigger red flag for her. He had been checking on his other ex-partner for more than seven years despite them no longer speaking. When the woman joked that he should "go get your wife," he replied, "I tried," which made her wonder whether he was still emotionally attached. This came after he had already told her about the recent death of another former partner, leaving her with even more doubts about his readiness for a new relationship.
The date had already started with a few details that made her uncomfortable. He did not open the car door for her, and after they reached the restaurant, he asked whether the bar had open seating. She found that extremely unusual for a first date. When they looked at the menu, she considered octopus, ravioli, and steak, but he discouraged her from choosing the steak because it cost more. He later explained that he grew up relying on food assistance and still found it difficult to spend freely. She accepted the explanation, chose the ravioli, and added shrimp when the waiter offered it.
During their conversation, he mentioned an ex who had helped him become less careful about spending. She asked when they had separated and learned they had ended their relationship three months earlier. He then revealed that the woman had died by suicide. The woman was shocked that he was already dating so soon after such a serious loss. She directly asked if he thought it was too early, but he replied, "It's just the first date." His casual response made her even more uncomfortable, and she decided to finish her drink and get through the evening. By the end of the night, she knew there would not be another date. What she expected to be a nice dinner instead became an experience she ranked among her worst dates.

Sometimes, clear warnings are only visible after we spend time with someone. This is what happened with another woman on her first date when a simple coffee meeting quickly made her uncomfortable. He arrived without greeting her, seemed extremely tired, and had a cold sore and heavy bags under his eyes. She also noticed scabs on his arms, became uneasy as the conversation continued, and eventually decided to leave. Looking back, she described it as one of her worst dating experiences and admitted, "I'm getting nauseous. I want the date to end."
