Woman found someone using her picture as a Facebook profile photo — the mix-up behind it left her speechless
Privacy invasion and identity theft have long been cited as serious issues when it comes to using the internet and social media. People often encounter unfamiliar accounts using their pictures without permission, and it leaves them feeling uneasy and uncomfortable. So, when a TikTok user who goes by Crimson (@macrimroni) saw a stranger using her picture on their Facebook profile, she was creeped out and immediately asked them to remove it. However, their response was completely unexpected and left her confused, but also humored at the same time. Sharing on March 28, 2026, the internet feels the defense could not be more impressive.

The woman explained that the experience dates back to 2019 or 2020, when she had put a picture of herself in shades and a textured crop as her Facebook profile photo. She noticed the person after they followed her and was shocked to see them using her photo. She quickly messaged them, asking if they could change it, explaining she was uncomfortable with a stranger using her face. However, the response from the other end completely surprised her. The stranger apologized for the act and clarified that they didn't intend to use her picture. They added that they thought the picture was of actor Tom Holland, and so they'd used it.
In the video, as the user explained their defense, she looked completely shocked and speechless. Only one word came out of her mouth – "What?" According to the Rosier Law Group, in most states in the US, one can sue someone who uses their name or image in an exploitative way without consent. But this wasn't the case here; there was no intent to misuse another person's image. So she only asked them to change their profile picture, and they even apologized for it. The post was captioned, “Do I look like Tom Holland, yes or no?” The video was viewed over 900k times at the time of writing this and received over 162k likes.
People also shared a range of reactions in the comments, with some even agreeing with the strangers. @angelliveshere compared the looks and wrote, “I honestly can see it from that photo. It's the teeth, smile, and hair.” Another user, @happieedit, added, “If I remove my focus from my eyes, I 100% see it.” Despite the unintentional impersonation, the stranger had apologized to her. One of the users, @waterspace.dom, highlighted the fact and wrote, “Very nice of them to apologize though.” For the user, the experience left her uncomfortable at first, but it’s something she’ll likely remember with humor for the rest of her life.
