Woman reveals how her two relationships had contrasting effects on her - the 'glow up' in healthy one is crazy
People have recently started realizing the concept of being in a healthy relationship vs just being in a relationship. There is a lot that goes into labeling a bond as healthy and the effects of it can be seen clearly. A woman named Laura (@laurashley) shared how she experienced two different relationships and the contrasting effects they had on her. She shared a video recording of herself during one of her past relationships where she was exhausted from putting in all the effort. However, at the time, the woman didn’t realize that it wasn’t helping her grow and was doing the opposite for her. “I used to be in a relationship doing anything I can to make it work,” she recalled.
Sharing more about her previous bond with her partner, Laura mentioned, “I was willing to sacrifice myself by any means to help my boyfriend.” As she shared glimpses of herself, it was evident that Laura was burnt out without even realizing it. Right from her physical features to the energy she had, it seemed to be at its minimum. Despite putting in more than she could into her relationship, she was “discarded.” The pain was brutal and unbearable and had its consequences on the woman, who was completely worn out. “I spent a year stuck, crying every day, wondering what I could do to fix my relationship,” she mentioned.
Laura was not in a good condition and it was visible how it had taken a toll on her mental health, confidence and more. Fast-forwarding to her present relationship, Laura shared the impeccable state she was in and the difference between the past and the current visuals was baffling. “Today I live on a fruit farm and am in an incredibly healthy and loving relationship with someone who values and respects me,” she remarked. Sharing glimpses of herself and her partner, Laura was refreshed, energized and most of all, happy.
It was like two completely different people had been captured in the video. “I never thought I would be where I am now. When you push through your toughest phases you get rewarded,” she exclaimed. Her confidence, aura and smile were all on an unbeatable elevated level. Reflecting on what she had learned from the difference between her two relationships, she said, “If saving someone else means that you lose yourself, you didn’t save them, you only sacrificed yourself.” Both relationships had an effect on Laura but the difference between them was profoundly remarkable.
Sharing her future plans and growth with Newsweek, Laura said, “I went from being stuck in my boyfriend's childhood bedroom to now living in an organic fruit farm in the tropics. I'm working on building a few businesses and saving up to put money toward investments. I spend a lot of time furthering my education, exercising and making healthy meals. I plan to build a comfortable future for myself with plenty of opportunities for travel, business and collaborations with other people.” Several people commented on Laura’s post and commended how happy she looked in her new relationship. @julia_nature wrote, “You look so much better and happier.” @taraan2 added, “The almost automatic glow-up when you're loved right is amazing too.”
