Woman planned Bumble date when she noticed something in man’s profile—then a closer look at photos made her cancel
With an increase in AI-generated content on the internet and the advancement in its quality, it has become harder for people to tell what's real and what's not. So when a woman learned that all of her potential Bumble date's pictures were AI-generated, she was shocked. At first, the woman, Cas Jerome, was really excited about her date. She was looking at the photos with her friend when she realized that all the pictures had significant AI editing and made the man look like a different person altogether. The woman shared the entire incident on TikTok, where she goes by @casjerome. The clip received over 33,500 views.
"I found out my date was AI," the text overlay of the video read. The woman was supposed to have a date with a man she met on Bumble. She was really excited, so she decided to share the man's profile with her friend. They discovered that the man had AI-generated all of his pictures. "All of the pictures," the friend went on. Only one video and photo seemed genuine and he looked like a drastically different person in those. "He looks like a different person in every photo," Cas added. Both of the women were in complete shock for a moment as they shared the story with the internet. Cas hadn't initially caught onto the concern.

"I thought he had one of those faces where you turn it even, like, a millimeter and he just, like, looks completely different. You know, those people, they just look different at every angle…But this. This was really weird," the woman remarked. "This looks really weird. I feel like we need to show [the pictures]," the friend began. However, Cas refused to do that and chose to keep the man's identity private. The friend said that the photos looked weirdly smooth, so she was able to identify that they were AI-generated images. Cas was also confused about a couple of more things. The man had told her that he would plan their date. Even though Cas expressed her excitement, the man asked her if there was a specific place that she would like to go.
Eventually, the woman felt like she was the one planning the date instead. Cas called off the date after she found out about the images. "At least I am taking it well." The caption read, "How is this real?" People shared their similar dating horror stories in the comments section of the video. @yabishalyss wrote, "On my Hinge profile, I literally put 'Make an actual plan for our first date' for one of the prompts and I swear this man suggested smoking in his car and listening to music. Where are the men who plan actual dates?"
@crystalv102 commented, "I have absolutely matched with a bot before. I could tell because when he asked what I do for a living and I said I was a book editor, he said, 'Oh! I’ve never heard of that company.'" @chervanii remarked, "Girl, it's bad. I had a guy on Bumble. We matched and all of his replies were AI-generated, so clearly. Too many emojis, too many 'it’s not just- it's —' and weird text patterns. It's so scary out here." Cas often shares fun sneak peeks of her life on her page as well. In one video, she made the viral hydrating hot chocolate with her friend.
