Woman saw 4-year-old rush towards her car after alarm went off in the parking lot — what camera captured gave her chills
There are times when someone is there just when it matters most, almost like a guardian angel. A Californian woman, who goes by @mazaqueenxo, posted a video on TikTok that was captured as she was about to leave work. As reported by Newsweek on Thursday, March 26, 2026, she was getting into her car, but before she could start it, her faulty key fob had already activated the vehicle’s alarm. As soon as this was noticed by a 4-year-old girl in the same parking lot, she rushed towards her car, asking for help as she was apparently alone. The woman already knew something was wrong.
@mazaqueenxo Thank god I was there because who knows what could of happened to her #fyp #awareness ♬ Everything In Its Right Place - SAD
As can be seen in the shared clip, she initially tried to calm the situation by talking to the panicked girl. Later, she helped her get into the front seat of the car so the little girl could at least feel safe and not alone. In between all this, she also called the authorities to inform them of the situation. “Thinking of the time I got off almost 2 hours late and saved a 4-year-old,” the woman mentioned in the caption of the shared post. She also mentioned, “Thank god I was there because who knows what could have [sic] happened to her.”
The woman shared multiple videos capturing the incident and the little girl conversing with her and the lady officer who arrived later at the scene. In one of the clips, the 4-year-old revealed she had crossed the street by herself. She also said, “I saw the car… I was wishing I was a grown-up, then I would drive the car.” The girl also shared that she was at her cousin’s house before leaving alone.
When the woman asked her why she chose to leave, she mentioned that she doesn’t “like it in my cousin’s house,” and that’s why she ran away in search of her mother. There has been no official update about the incident yet. However, in another clip, the little girl described features of her house to the lady officer at the scene. The TikTok user shared six clips capturing the entire incident; however, she didn't reveal the 4-year-old's face in any of those clips.
Meanwhile, the viral moment has triggered the discussion of the “burnt toast theory,” which suggests that small inconveniences can sometimes lead to better outcomes. @faith.evans_ remarked, “Everything was on her side that night: you leaving late, key fob not working, staying there on your phone, being the right person.”
Another user, @cchhristopher, mentioned, “Leaving 2 hours late to be on time for her.” One more user, @sandybarbielarios, penned, "Her guardian angel is guardian angeling." Though the child’s fate is still uncertain, the video has fueled broader conversations about coincidence, safety, and how minor disruptions in routine can sometimes result in unforeseen outcomes.
