A childhood home holds special memories that compare to no other. Even just a glimpse brings back priceless nostalgia. A woman named Jenaca Rogers had a similar love for the home in which she was raised by her god-grandfather, Jerry, and his wife, Pat, PEOPLE revealed. She was delighted to see the house listed for sale, but given time and other factors, she knew she wouldn’t be able to land a deal. Fortunately, the realtor heard her story and had a mesmerizing response that has touched the internet. Rogers was introduced to Jerry and Pat, as well as the home, by her grandmother, Connie.

She started living in their home at 12 weeks old, soon after her mother resumed work post her maternity leave. Over the years, the duo became close to Rogers and were nothing short of grandparents to her. Built in the 1970s, the couple lived in the home until Pat passed away in 2016 and Jerry in 2022. “I grew up in that house from literally when I was born until she passed,” the woman revealed. The home undoubtedly meant more than anyone ever knew but sadly, Rogers couldn’t hold onto it. When Jerry passed away, the house was sold due to the probate court. The family couldn't do anything to keep the home and they were heartbroken.

“Your whole life you hope for something and then it’s just taken away,” Rogers poignantly remarked. Luck soon shone on her and she saw the very same house listed for sale sometime later. Rogers’ apartment lease was up and she was on the lookout for another place when she stumbled upon her childhood home. There was no better timing. “I called the realtor and he didn’t answer and I just started crying because I was like, 'I’m not going to get it,'” she recalled. However, the woman persisted in her attempts to reach the man. She contacted the agency and was able to get a showing. The minute she knew she’d get another glimpse, she was melting in tears.

“I cried in the driveway, I cried touring the house,” she said. The woman shared a video of the tour on TikTok, too and noted how the home was “special” to her. Rogers looked around the place, nostalgia filling her heart. When she spotted her childhood toy still lying in the shed, she could no longer hold back any tears. She then told the realtor why the home was so special to her and he immediately knew what he had to do. “He was like, ‘I’m not even going to put the sign up. It’s yours. We’re done,'” Rogers recalled. The realtor kept his promise and the woman was soon through with the contract.

Once her dream came true, she surprised her grandmother, who also spent much of her childhood in that home. In another video, the woman took Connie to the home and revealed the big news, leaving the grandma overwhelmed. “She was speechless. And then tears just started flowing,” Rogers remarked. “Pat and Jerry would love this!” Connie exclaimed. As the family is working to restore the home in the best way possible, it’s still relieving but unbelievable to them. “I feel at home. That’s the best way I can describe it,” Rogers said. The internet was moved by the woman’s find. @coriwildhart said, “I pray for this same dream.” @shealynng added, “This made me want to cry. Goals!”
