A first date can reveal more about a person in an hour than months of texting ever could. One woman recently shared an awkward dating experience that began with hope but eventually went downhill. She had matched with a man on Hinge who seemed attractive and exactly her type. However, the date took an unexpected turn with the man getting blackout drunk. On January 9, 2026, the woman, Meg, posted about the incident on TikTok under the handle @megmegmegmegmegmegmrg, where she shared how the rest of the date went and a shocking message she received days later.

After the uncomfortable date, Meg received a surprising message from the same man. Nearly a week later, he texted asking if she wanted to hang out again. The request left her stunned, especially considering how the evening had ended. She joked that she assumed he must have completely blacked out during the date. Reflecting on it, she added, “to have the confidence of him I admire it,” showing a mix of disbelief and humor about the situation.

Meg explained that the evening had started with typical first-date nerves. She had been chatting with the man online before they agreed to meet at a fancy bar. When he arrived, she felt relieved because he looked just like his photos. He was also well-dressed, which made her feel hopeful that things might go well. First impressions often shape expectations, and at that moment, she thought the night might actually turn out great.

However, the situation shifted once the drinks started. The man appeared far more nervous than she was and finished his first drink almost immediately. Instead of relaxing into conversation, he kept ordering more drinks and barely engaged with her questions. Dating can sometimes feel like an interview, and she soon realized she was the only one keeping the conversation going while he became increasingly distracted and awkward.

As the evening continued, his behavior grew stranger. His speech became unclear, and he began laughing randomly before saying he needed to go to the bathroom. While waiting, Meg texted her friends and admitted she felt the date had become a disaster. Even though she was tempted to leave, she stayed because she didn’t want to appear rude.

A perfect example of how women often remain polite even in uncomfortable situations out of respect for others. After nearly thirty minutes, the man finally reappeared in rough condition. Meg said she could “smell him before I see him,” realizing he had gotten extremely drunk and had vomited. People around them began staring, and she felt bad for him despite the awkwardness.

She helped arrange an Uber, even wiping him down when drivers refused to take him. After one cab finally agreed to take him, she tracked the ride to make sure he reached home safely, though she was certain she wouldn’t contact him again. The night seemed to end there, which made his later message asking to meet again even more surprising.
