Woman thought her first date was strangely cold until he revealed the cruel ‘test’ he had been running all night
First dates are usually filled with anticipation, though that excitement can disappear once red flags begin surfacing. Threads user Krysta Monet, who goes by @krysta.monet, thought she was going to have a great date with a cute 6'3" man who invited her out for drinks and appeared perfect on paper. However, when she realized what he did to "test" her all night, she immediately lost interest. On October 22, 2025, the woman revealed how his attitude, even before the date began, left her furious.
When she saw her date outside and greeted him, she accidentally dropped her phone. Monet, who was busy closing her purse, assumed he might help her pick it up from the ground. But he instantly asked, "Oh, you're waiting for me to pick it up?" His response offended her. Later, when he reached the restaurant door first, she thought he'd open it for her. However, he once again questioned whether she expected him to do it simply because he was a man. Monet pointed out that he was standing near the door and had reached it before her. He finally opened it, annoyingly, saying this was all part of his test to see if she needed a man to do everything for her.
While he kept talking about wanting to see her again during the rest of their date, Monet was already planning to stop pursuing him. After he paid the bill, she revealed that she did not like the way he treated basic acts of courtesy like "princess" behavior. Learning that he was testing her "masculinity," she told him, "Yeah, no. I'm good with any man who feels the need to test how manly I am. You're weird." She left and blocked him right away.
Offering to help someone is seen as a simple act of kindness. However, the man twisted those gestures into something tied to masculinity. When Monet realized that he had been testing her throughout the date, she knew he wasn't the person she wanted to spend more time with. After all, dating shouldn't feel conditional when the entire point is to learn more about each other.
Monet's post received a lot of attention from internet users who shared their thoughts on his behavior. @jemsstar23 mentioned, "Girl, you should have left and blocked him after that stunt he pulled at the door. It only went downhill from there! Smashing my head." @only1robey remarked, "Ma'am. If it wasn't the phone thing, it definitely would have been the door thing that had me walking away that instant." @chocolitdva noted, "Good for you. The average man would've picked up the phone. The average man would've opened the door."
