That's what an X user named Mia, who also goes by (@luxemiaa), believed until a man she went on a first date with suggested otherwise. Sharing the story with X users on Monday, May 25, 2026, the woman recalled how she realized the date was doomed the moment he made an unusual remark about her beverage, which revealed how differently he viewed women.

When Mia and her date went out, she ordered wine, while he asked for whiskey. However, as soon as he noticed what she had ordered, he "complimented" her for not getting any other drink. He went on to explain that had she asked for whiskey, it would have made her look "unattractive." The woman was aback by his words, and tried to process the information. "He said it like he was complimenting me. Like I should be grateful that I had accidentally ordered the correct gender approved beverage and he was relieved on my behalf," she noted. After the evening ended, she immediately blocked him and chose not to move forward with the match.
Mia noted in a thread that although she wasn't much of a drinker, she did not appreciate the way he judged her based on her preference in alcohol. "The idea that he was sitting there with a list of acceptable woman drinks in his head and was monitoring my order against it is just so exhausting to think about," she lamented. While several online users called out his behavior, others supported her decision to stand her ground against misogyny. @YoungboiCypher shared, "The audacity is unreal. In another embarrassing instance, a woman's first date turned into an awkward meet, leaving her shocked. He refused to order enough food for her and also ate most of the items, leaving her hungry. In the end, when it was time for the check, he refused to tip, stating that it was a "system" in French.
