Woman threatened to call the cops on a gym-goer who interrupted her twice, thinking he was flirting — he regretted returning with a warning photo

He approached the same woman twice during a workout, but each encounter became more awkward than the last.

Many people choose to speak up when they notice behavior that seems concerning, though their intentions may not always be clear to others. Something similar happened to a TikTok user, Tristin, who goes by @tgottavision. The creator posted a video on July 28, 2026, sharing how he tried to warn a woman about another gym-goer's behavior but instantly regretted stepping in after she said she would report him to the police. His attempt to help quickly turned into a misunderstanding he never expected.

Tristin recalled that he was working out when an older man beside him pointed out a woman exercising on a StairMaster. Things escalated when he later noticed the same man secretly taking a picture of the woman while she was working out on a treadmill. Out of concern, he confronted the man and took his phone, where he found and deleted the picture before trying to warn the woman. But before he could explain what had happened, she turned to him and said, "If you come up to me again, I'm about to call the police," believing he was the one bothering her.

Tristin explained that the situation had actually started earlier in the workout. He recalled that he noticed the older man beside him staring at the woman. Upon being confronted, the older man said, "I'm just looking at cutie over there. You see her?" Tristin immediately found this behavior creepy, and he decided to alert the woman. As he went up to her, she immediately dismissed him, as she thought he was simply trying to flirt. He told her that another man had been staring at her, and he wanted to make sure she was aware of it. But she cut him off, replied, "Why you talking to me right now, boy? Bye," before putting her headphones back on and walking away.

Thinking he had done what he could, the content creator said he returned to his workout feeling embarrassed and wondering if he had made a mistake by getting involved. He recalled questioning why he had tried to "save the day" after the woman ignored him, and decided to leave the situation alone. He later recounted the incident, saying he regretted trying to help.

Viewers praised the young man for trying to help despite the misunderstanding. @Lauraloo wrote, "As a woman in the gym, you did the right thing. Just because she didn't appreciate it doesn't mean you should change your behavior." @Victoria mentioned, "I hope this runs across her For You Page." Meanwhile, @michele_boudreau said, "Unfortunately, women at the gym are at a point where they assume the worst. That’s not on you…thank you for trying to do the right thing."

While the woman's reaction to Tristin was unexpected, it reflects the concerns many women have in social settings, especially gyms. A recent Sport England report found that 86% of women between the ages of 16 and 34 reported facing harassment or intimidation while working out during the previous three years. It also found that 62% of women who use gyms had changed their behavior because of these experiences, such as avoiding certain areas, changing what they wear, or altering when they work out.
