Woman told a cancer patient she 'didn’t care' about his condition as she stole his hospital parking spot — what followed left him quietly satisfied
People making hospital visits are most likely to be stressed or worried. However, that gives them no excuse to forget basic decency and dismiss the fact that another person may also be going through something difficult. Corey Johnson, who goes by @loud_virgo, recalled having a brief argument with a woman while trying to find parking at the hospital. In his post shared on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, he mentioned that he was headed there for his cancer treatment appointment, but a woman cut him off and took the vacant parking space. He managed to get another spot, but seeing what happened next felt like a small win.

Johnson was headed to his appointment and had only five minutes to park and get inside. When he saw the spot open, he signaled to the woman to let her know that he wanted to take the spot. Still, she refused to let it go and got into an argument with him. When he tried explaining why, she said, “I’ve been trying to find a spot for an hour, and I’m tired, and I don’t care you have cancer.” In the end, she got the space, but at what cost? She had to struggle to fit her truck into the space, and watching her do so felt satisfying. “I gleefully watched you maneuver your truck into that tiny spot for another few minutes from afar before going to the free valet service the hospital offers,” he remarked.

It is understandable that the woman, too, was likely having a tough day and had a lot going on. However, dismissing Johnson and giving him an attitude felt unnecessary. At a place like a hospital, where many people are going through something challenging, compassion and understanding are important. Parking issues are nothing new. According to data from ValeKit, parking difficulties affect patients visiting clinics and hospitals. As a result, patients lose anywhere between $200 and $500 per appointment when delayed due to parking, as it disrupts doctor and patient schedules.

In a comment, Johnson mentioned that he usually doesn’t like to use his cancer and treatment to gain people's sympathy. However, the situation was such that he needed to be on time. Yet, when the woman said those words, he was extremely disheartened. “I try to be as empathetic as possible when the shoe is on the other foot,” he noted. Moreover, he explained that he didn’t use the valet service earlier on because he could manage to walk to the entrance after parking. He wanted to reserve the service for those who really needed it. But unfortunately, after that encounter, he had to seek help.
