Woman verbally attacked a disabled teen at a salon — the staff's response had the internet applauding

Trigger Warning: This article contains themes of verbal abuse that can be distressing to some readers.
Certain places are meant for people's relaxation, where they look for some peace and be at rest. So, it can be very distressing to encounter an abusive stranger at such a place. Unfortunately, a family with a special needs teen had to deal with such a difficult person at a nail salon. The stranger noticed the teen looking at her and started verbally attacking the family after that. However, soon enough, patrons and staff at the salon stepped in to help the family and stood up against the woman bullying them, per CTV News.

A family visited a nail salon in Surrey, British Columbia, where the incident happened. The mom shared, "It hurts me to think that anybody could be so cruel." In surveillance footage, a woman could be seen paying at the counter. A teenager was looking at her, and the mom, Margaret Young, immediately stepped in to explain that her daughter had special needs. But the woman was even more agitated by the teenager, Courtney, after that. "She said that shame on you for bringing an idiot into the world," Young recounted. "She told me that we were all going to hell because I did bring such a r*tard into the world and that we all should have died."
The customers stepped in to break up the escalating argument and locked the woman out of the salon. Dani Lynes, Courtney's sister, remembered that when the woman went outside, she was making faces at them. The patrons at the salon were stunned at the hatred the woman showed towards the family. "It was shocking. When that mom tried to defend her daughter, and everybody was trying to help, this person didn't stop. They continued flipping fingers, swearing and using such foul language," a witness, Caroline Sebraoui, pointed out. The people at the salon stood around the girl to console her, give her hugs and support the family. "They stepped up to try and make Courtney feel better," Lynes revealed.
The people present showed compassion to the family to deal with the situation better, and the family hoped that nobody would have to face something like that again. They felt that the authorities should charge the woman with a hate crime. People shared their thoughts on the incident in the comment section of the video. @BlackRoseButterflies wrote, "My little sister has special needs, and the thought of anyone treating her like this has me furious and sobbing. That woman is sick. If anyone there has a problem, it's her. I sincerely hope she pays for her actions and can learn to become a better person after this. And I hope that Courtney is living the lovely life she deserves."
@thaisrodz commented, "That is despicable. That woman should be charged with a hate crime. My heart goes out to Courtney and her family. There is nothing worse than seeing a loved one in pain." @sleepbabie remarked, "I'm a special needs teacher, and my amazing students are a blessing. They actually teach me about life. How dare that woman say those nasty things to someone who sees the world in a unique way? I'm speechless...I'm angry...and I'm so sorry that happened to a sweet young woman whose only crime was being born uniquely different in the way she views her surroundings."
