Woman watches two tourists berate a waitress in Bali over their food — then she steps in with one remark that stops them cold
Some people take others for granted until they are called out. That was exactly what an Instagram creator decided to do when she saw two men being rude to a waitress in Bali. Vivian Yun was dining at a café when she watched the tourists berate the waitress for taking too long to bring their food. While everyone else around her stayed quiet, Yun felt she couldn’t simply sit by and watch. Sharing the encounter under her Instagram handle, @vivianyunn, on Sunday, September 27, 2026, she revealed how she confronted the men and left them completely speechless.
The two men had ordered their food, and only a few minutes had passed. They soon called over the waitress and demanded to know why their order was taking so long, insisting the wait was "unacceptable" and threatening to leave. Yun said the waitress looked visibly frightened as the men pointed at her and continued raising their voices. Unable to watch any longer, Yun first pretended to head to the restroom as she gathered her thoughts and figured out how to approach them. She then walked over and said, "Real men don’t speak to women like that." Pointing at them, she added, "It is unacceptable," and reminded them, "You don’t come to somebody else’s country and speak to them and yell at them the way that you did."
Yun also said she got a little more blunt as the conversation continued. She confronted the men, saying that their behavior was embarrassing and joking that their apparent "roid rage" was not doing them any favors. She said the men looked completely caught off guard, as if they were not used to being challenged so directly. Other diners sitting nearby also noticed what was happening. Yun said two customers sitting a few tables away had watched the entire exchange and encouraged her to keep going after seeing how the tourists had treated the waitress.
Eventually, the men seemed to realize they had crossed a line. Instead of continuing to argue, one of them responded, "Okay," and said they would "do better" next time. Once Yun realized they had taken what she said to heart, she decided to end the confrontation. Yun later explained that her reaction was tied to what she had been witnessing during her time in Bali. She said she had noticed what she felt was an increasing amount of rude behavior from tourists and had reached a point where she could no longer simply watch from the sidelines.
Many Instagram users also praised Yun for her confrontation. @sjcrawfordx wrote, "Amazing that you did this; definitely need to call it out," while @kinvenchy thanked her, saying, "Thank you, queen, for your service." A third user, @marina104575, agreed with her approach, writing, "You said exactly the right thing to humble them."
Yun’s story is not the only time a stranger has stepped in after watching a server being treated poorly. In another recent incident, a diner named Kayla Dee noticed a waitress being repeatedly yelled at by a customer. Rather than letting the moment pass, she approached the shaken server afterward, reassured her that she was doing a good job, and even asked if she could give her a hug. The unexpected gesture brought a smile to the waitress’s face, showing that sometimes standing up for someone can be as simple as reminding them that they are not alone.
